Don'T Love Me Too Late

I won’t beg you to stay,
When all you do is play,
With my heart.
No, I won’t ask you to leave,
While you leave me to grieve,
Cause we’re apart.

And everyone tells me
You know how it goes.
You water the seeds
But the love never grows.
Even Atlas could buckle
Under the weight,
Of loving someone,
Who loves you too late.

If there’s even a chance,
Babe, I’ll do what I can,
To see this through.
But will our time run out?
As you flirt with doubt,
I come unglued.

And everyone tells me,
Try not to drown,
And what goes up,
Oh, it has to come down.
I’m not sure how long,
you expect me to wait,
Oh baby,
Don’t love me too late.

I guess I held on too tight,
Couldn’t make it alright,
For you and me.
Gone is probably where you belong,
I guess we just did love wrong,
I’ll leave you be.

And everyone tells me,
Don't do this with haste,
And to see us apart,
Is a terrible waste.
I guess this is what happens
When you leave it to fate.
Because baby,
you loved me too late.
