Out of the Ashes

Like a phoenix out of the ashes,
hope stirs in the remnants of
    my bruised and burned heart,
Rising from the ruins,
  to face a new day,
    a new promise,
Growing stronger by the day,
until it is ready to take flight,
To take on the world.

The Pond

As life's energy swirls all around,
  Peace settles in my breast,
Sitting quiet and still,
as turtles splash in and out of the water
    nearby,
And a playful otter giggles,
waiting for a playmate to join in his fun.
The wind jogs around us all,
giving the downy hair of a cattail a
    piggyback into the peaceful wood.
White cotton clouds make their way,
  lazily across the sapphire sky,
Making sure not to disturb the
  brilliant sun,
Who's rays transform the rippling water into
  glittering diamonds before my eyes.
But before that beaming magician can perform
his magic again on the flat canvas before me,
The lonely otter splashes,
  announcing his departure
and peaking his eyes in farewell.
As I too depart,
  I smile,
Feeling at one with nature.

Enjoy the Ride

Truckin' along the road of life,
    Facing the music head on,
Roadside entertainment
    and exits to the past
Fly by.

Wind in your hair,
    A song on your lips,
Desire to succeed
    fueling your life
Full speed ahead.

But in all that determination,

Don't forget to slow down
    and enjoy the ride,
LIfe is about the journey,
    not the destination.

Life can come at you hard,
take a sharp turn off your desired path,
Bring you tears and pain,

But feel the wind in your hair,
hear the song in your heart,
Stoking your desire,

So Live,
    Love,
Let Go,
    Enjoy.

A Step of Faith

Rain pounded at the window,
Much like my heart hammered loudly in my chest,
No boundaries…complete openness
	A beautifully terrifying offer,
A heart felt offer from a protective soul
Entwined with my own to the very vulnerability in
		The core of my being,
The strength required to take that one step,
To accept this all inclusive gift with hands wide open,
Seemed almost too far,
Yet that ever present strength encouraged,
		Arms wide open,
So with one breath I ask the thing I most need to hear the answer to,
	Please,
			Please don’t hurt my heart,
You have the power to do more damage than any other…
				Silence deafens for a moment…
	Before,
I could never hurt you,
And all the chaotic storms in my chest calmed,
For I knew this was a soul I could trust,
					Completely.

Beautiful Blessing

You see what no one else does,
	The real me inside,
And I look in awe at the
Beautiful soul put in my path,
To open my eyes,
	Expand my heart,
		Hold me close,
Even from faraway,
	You continue to positively and
		Lovingly
Walk with me,
	Make me look at my
		World anew.
My Beautiful Blessing…
Without you,
My life wouldn’t glow with love,
		My wall even higher,
			My load a little heavier.
But you walk by me,
	Quiet and supportive,
Loving me every step of the way,
Bringing a smile to my face.
Beautiful Blessing.

Lord, Use Me

Open my eyes,
to see as You see,
Use my voice to bring
hope and love to a dying world,
Cleanse me daily,
so I may be blameless in Your sight,
So Your light will clearly
shine through me,
A beacon of joy
to the downhearted,
A comforting embrace
to the hurt and grieving,
A confirmation of Your faithfulness
to the weak, afflicted, and searching.
Take my life and the gifts You
gave me,
before conception,
That I may reach people for You,
to show them the truth.

Heartbreak

Her beautiful
Eyes are red
And
Raw from all the
Times he never followed through,
Breaking his word,
Ripping her heart to shreds,
Evidence of infidelity,
An unpardonable offense,
Killing what could have been.

Brave New Love

A healed heart, with it’s tender petals,
	Budded tight to protect itself,
Hesitantly opens one petal at a time,
Warmed by the rays of hope,
Cultivated and caressed by the gentle,
	Kind hands of affection,
Longs for the warmth of tender love
	And companionship,
So courageously opens,
	One petal at a time,
To the possibilities of a dream come to life.

The World Today

Intolerance and prejudice,
	When are going to see…
Beyond skin color,
	Gender,
		Sexual preference,
			Heritage,
Look and see the person
	Under the surface,
The heart, mind, and soul that is the
Essence of the shell you hate
		Without knowing,
The shell created in the image
	Of the Most High,
All the precious variations He created,
	In His image,
Yet we hate,
	Judge,
		Mince words and wrongly label,
Instead of the first commandment,
	To LOVE,
Completely and without exception.

Nature's Wonders

All of lifes drama,
    all the he said-shesaid,
Melts away as the
    trees engulf me,
Bringing me back to
    the simple things in life,
Where peace reigns
    and life abounds.
Clouds floating above me,
    in a sea of azure,
And the wind whispers a song
    through the trees,
as a lover wooing it's new love,
Birds singing,
    bugs buzzing,
Life and its simple complexities
    explode peacefully around me,
The bigger picture
    making my worries seem
        so small,
Shrinking into nothing,
    thrown to the wind,
Leaving a serenity you can only get,
    from nature's wonders.
