Dashes

The years between the dashes
have not always made me proud
It's hard to find happiness
when you're living in a cloud.

I searched for years
for happiness, everywhere it seemed
Yet I found I can not find it
in someone else's dreams.

It's hard to find yourself
When you are running from your past
You have to learn to live with you
even when you have doubts

Though I am not perfect
I still believe
everyone deserves to be
who they are meant to be

Why

Go away leave me be
I am just a kid
Why are you beating me?

Why all the yelling, screaming and fussing
why the slaps, pushes and punches.
Why do you hurt your own flesh and blood
God gave me to you to love.

Why do you inflict pain on a child?
What part of your brain makes you think that's right
To hurt a child whom you gave life.
Do you think God gave me to you
Just so you could have someone to abuse?

I don't understand no matter how hard I try
So I continue asking God
Why I had this life?

I don't have the answers,
I don't have a clue,
But you are my parent
and I truly love you.

So I will take the pain and abuse
in hopes one day you will see,
This was not what God intended
for a child's life to be.

Jesus Paid

Life's not always easy sometimes troubles abound but look to the Lord He is your solid ground. When you feel you are failing and the future looks grim Look upwards to Jesus give your troubles to him. Jesus will take them you are never alone He carries our burdens and makes them his own He loves us unconditionally that should be so easy to see How can we doubt his love Knowing he hung from that tree.

Follow Me

The Lord said "Follow me"
And I will take you where you need to be
Up high mountains, over sea, nothing is impossible
                If you just believe.

I give you no more than you can bear
Though the way may be long
                I will be right there.

                You are my child,
and you can reach your dreams
but first you must trust in me.

You ask the Lord, Why me?
The pains unreal and I feel defeated
But God says you just must believe
                 Have faith, Follow me.

Because I know, what you cannot see
So take that step and let me lead
                 Do not despair, just believe
                 Pick up your burdens
                 Follow me.

Give all your burdens to me
And at the end of your journey,
                  You will be pleased
                  So just believe
                      and
                  Follow me.

Luck Or Fate

A game of luck
A hand of fate
touch of hands
Although quite shaky.

Heartbeat quickens
Hands shake
Sweat breaks out
All over our faces

Oh my what have we done
A game of chance
No one won.

Hearts connect
Souls combine
What once was ours
Now yours and mine.
