Seasons

A dark gloomy sunless start
Cold and calculating
Frost on the windows
Icy streets
Snow on the ground
Hot chocolate to be made
Another Winter’s day

Sun coming over the horizon
Birds singing at dawn’s first light
Green grass dusted with morning dew
Mowers mowing
Flowers blooming
Warm rain hitting the streets
Another Spring day

Schools out kids at home
Swimming pools swarming
Air-conditioners humming
Backyard barbecues
Hot sleepless nights
Fireflies flying
Another Summer day

Leaves changing colors
Back to school night
Leaf blowers
A new brisk chill to the air
Apple cider to keep warm
Halloween
Another Autumn day

In Loving Memory Of...Uncle Toby

I’m sorry Auntie that your love is now lost
You survived and feel all alone
The pressures in life you must endure
For your children are now grown

We went and paid our last respects
Viewed his lifeless body , gave our last kiss
Your life with him has now come to an end
Your marriage was full of laughter and bliss

He died to soon you must think
Twenty-three years was not very long
We shed our tears and said good-bye
Why I know you ask this is so wrong

He led a good life, you had a chance to be his wife
You will miss his smiles
You will miss his sense of humor
But remember he walked many miles

Don’t think of him as gone away
A new journey he has just begun and he’s in peace
In a place of warmth and comfort
I know your pain will never cease

Days will come and days will go
Dry your tears
For he’s better now, no more pain
Remember he’s an angel now with no more fears

Dedicated to Auntie Margie

God's Plan

When I think of my past
Nothing can compare
With how my life turned out now

You’ve taught me the freedom of love
Given me a reason to go on and live
You’ve loved me because I am who I am

The doubts I once had have long gone away
Allowing love to blossom in their place
Into something that is spiritual, even divine

God has brought us together
And I’m so glad that you’re mine
And better yet I am yours

In my heart, it is a heavenly plan
For us to spend life together
No matter where it may lead

For God has stepped into our lives
He is the one who knows best
Blessing our lives as we know it

No More Chains

I couldn’t take the cruelty any more so I moved out
I would make it on my own I had no shadow of doubt
I fell for the first guy who showed me his charm
Little did I know, my body I would harm
I allowed him to show me how to get away
Had no idea from God I would stray
I saw the needle coming, just one little poke
I let him fill my arms with coke
I wanted to forget what mom did to me
I believed in this highs fantasy
After a while the coke had me in its chains
I needed to have more flowing through my veins
I started smoking it and even snorting
White powder on my nose seemed very sporting
The feeling this high gave me didn’t last long
I knew deep down inside that this was so wrong
This drug was bringing me further down then the floor
Eating me alive to the very core
I knew this wasn’t how I wanted to live
My life was more important, I had so much to give
So I fell down on my knees and began to pray
Give me the strength to fight and to you Lord I will obey
I cried and begged with tears down my face
Gave up the guy and the coke then moved away from that place
Never once did I look back upon my sin
I knew God loved me and wanted me to win
I forgave my mom for all the pain
I realized by hating her I had nothing to gain
The Lord read my heart and answered my plea
God has saw to it that I am now free.

Written on the 19th anniversary of being clean and thus having a
second chance at life.

A Personal Message To My Mother-In-Law Daisy

On this Mother’s Day
I’d like to say,
You mean the world to me through the good times and the bad,
Through family issues that make us so sad.
Mom, I’ve known you for over 16 years,
Many of which I’ve shed many tears
Over problems with my own mother,
You are a remarkable woman, there will NEVER be no other.
You’ve opened your arms and have taken me into the family within
Although I am full of sin,
You’ve made me feel I am a worthy child of GOD he will in his grace keep,
Even if you had to use the motherly rod so to speak.
You’ve NEVER judged me about my past,
Have always advised me and opened my eyes to see, that I don’t have to put
myself last
That it’s God’s will for my life
Even after Daun made me his wife.
I can talk to you openly about whatever’s on my mind
And you have always been so very kind,
Since the day I met you you’ve been in my heart
A relationship began right from the start.
My one wish for you on this Mother’s Day, two thousand seven
Is that you always remain my angel from heaven,
Brought here on this earth to watch over all the ones you love
Sent here from God up above.
Continue to be the person you are
Because your love has carried us all this far,
Set may of us straight
Not allowing us to take Satan’s bait.
Keep us all in your thoughts and prayers, wishing us all the very best,
Holding us all close to you chest
Where we can hear the beating of your heart, feeling your love that you are so
willing to give
Allowing us to make good decisions and to live.
You’ve accepted people into the family that aren’t even of your blood,
And have always understood
The purpose God has given to you, to open up your angels’ wings
Listening to the heavenly voices of the angels that sing!!!

A Teenage Boy

Having a son to carry on the family name
Was something to be proud of
Bust since he became a teen, nothing has remained the same
He has changed, thinking he knows all
I still love him with all my heart, but not his mouth
He wants to argue and talk back every chance he gets
Since he became a teen his life has gone south
Getting in trouble when the urge hits him
He’s 15, not a little boy, definitely not yet a man
Have asked for advice, have tried several different things
He loves to try me when dad’s not around, because he thinks that he can
Please Lord, hear my plea, I need assistance right away
We clash and we fight
Please Lord, I beg of you to step in and help him see
That the way he treats me just ain’t right
Help him to grow up and to respect
Hold me back from causing him any harm
Give me patience, guidance, and wisdom
To direct him on the right path
And once more hold him in my arms
Let me remember when he was born he brought me great joy
And remind me to praise him when he does do good
For no longer is he my little boy
But a teen who claims he’s so misunderstood

God Gave Me "you" Sister

God brought us together as sisters
So we can share all our hopes and dreams
To share our laughter and our tears
Sometimes to get mad and even fight
To hold each other up when we are down
Together the bond we have will remain strong.

There were so many times I hated you
But now it is only you I can trust
I’ll be here for you no matter what
You’ll always be in my heart
Am glad that you are of my blood
Don’t know what I’d do without you in my life.

If you need a shoulder to cry on I’ll be here
I am here when you are sad and lonely
Or when you’re in pain
Glad I can help you when you’re feeling gray
I’m thankful to you that you’re my sister
I can honestly say I’m grateful to God for giving me a sister like YOU!

A Silent Prayer

Was written on 9/11/07, dedicated to all the families of victims.

Many have died on that fateful day September 11, 2001
The pain in our hearts for those we’ve lost
The loss of so many precious lives it has cost
Everyone my heart goes out to you
Many tears will be shed
In each town, and city around the USA
For each brother, sister, husband, wife, son, daughter,
mom and dad, grandchild and friend
All of this is so very sad
So may America bow their heads right now and say
A silent prayer for everyone today.

Thank You Lord

I wish to thank you Lord
For allowing me to be a mother
I accept these precious gifts you’ve
bestowed upon me wholeheartedly
I pledge to raise these miracles to
reflect your light
I promise to cherish them
I will love them unconditionally
I will take them by the hand and
guide them through life
I will teach them right from
wrong
I will share with them patience,
kindness, gentleness, joy, and
laughter
I will show them compassion,
understanding, thoughtfulness, and
gentleness
I will shine upon them faith, truth,
and prayer
I will pick them up when they fall
I will dry their eyes when they cry
I will comfort them when they are
sick
I will calm them down when they
have fears
I will instruct them that it is
because of YOU that they have
life

Amen

Human Beings

Wars, wars near and far
Earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes
All these natural disasters
So close to home
Tearing up the earth, whirling round and round
Destroying homes and even the land

Humans dying,
People crying out
From all the pain
Sickness, starvation, incurable disease
Eating away at humanity
From the inside out

Crime and violence
As never seen before.
Murder for no reason at all
Rape, innocent victims screaming out
So many in prison serving time
Suicide for those who no longer know what to do

Disobedience, of authority
Including their parents
Immorality of every kind
All of these things happening
Yesterday, today and tomorrow
No peace in sight or so it seems

We need to look further
Before time runs out
We only have one more chance
To make our lives better
Don’t give in to humanity’s selfish plight
Make the right decision for yourselves
