Dear Santa I Want a Batmobile

Dear Santa I want a batmobile that can fly
I want to go way up above the sky
You probably think it's silly and are asking yourself, why?
You see I've got to get to heaven so it has to go real high
Don't get the wrong impression, I don't want to die
I wish to meet a couple grandparents, for them mom and dad do cry
They say they'd love me and wish I could have met them as they let out a sigh
If I can't have a batmobile I'll settle for a set of wings, just bring me something that can fly

September 11th

Through charcoal ash covered sands of time in history September 11th, 2001 we'll never forget
Brave men and women quick to help without thoughts of regret
So many watched on t.v, faces streaming with tears
Some prayed like crazy for loved ones hoping no one would confirm their greatest fears
First tower struck, struck fear in our hearts
Still, communities held together while some worlds felt they were falling apart
Thought to be an accidental fluke was the first 767 that crashed
Approximately 18 minutes later as her twin tower was struck it was clear an attack was being lashed
Foundation of buildings built strong to last
Still couldn't withstand heat from the jet fuel among impact of the blast
Brave men and women worked hard to evacuate and do what they could
Meanwhile, there was trouble at the Pentagon in their neck of the woods
News came that among the World Trade Center the Pentagon was also hit
People collapsed as standing structures did to silently prey where they sit
Yet, another plane crashed in a Pennsylvania field
Passengers aboard didn't make it but died as heroes with their battle with terrorists they didn't stop or yield
Where were you on this devastating day?
Where ever it was I hope you were among others who did pray
The world is still turning
For loved ones lost, some are still yearning
Permanent smokey images sketched of falling debri and structures burning
Lingering thoughts have hearts and stomachs still churning
Nothing could have prepared anyone for the destruction and heartache to come with those four flights
Light a candle for lost innocent brave souls, heroes, and survivors on this night

Candles and Wildflowers

Sure I enjoy the scent of candles
Watching the flame dance upon top of the mantle
Beautiful reflections and silhouettes all aglow
Flickering flame swaying to and fro
For the fragrance I'm seeking an imposter won't do
Sorry my beloved candles when Spring and Summer come so ends our sacred rendezvous
You're a lovely substitute and put on a great show
We'll reunite in cold weather and special occasions until then on hold our love will still grow
Plant me in a field of wildflowers
Help me to bud and blossom with a light misted Spring shower
Bask in the aromas brought out stronger by the warmth of the sun
Mmm sweet heavenly scents that can't be outdone
Natural essence and beauty one can't imitate
Such beautiful feelings it stirs to initiate
Too long I've improvised with fake for real
No clone or replica will do to seal the deal
While willows weep and flowers sleep
The sweetest of dreams I shall keep
Plucking a bouquet of pretty posies
Singing and dancing with my kids to ring around the rosie

Be the Change

Demons longing to be released from their cage
Unleash their fury in a fist of rage
Life's not as simple as turning a page
Cycling rapidly these thoughts they can't disengage
Consumed by far too much hate
Doomed from the start at any rate
Unknown to unconditional love long ago sealed their fate
Mind a ticking time bomb lying in wait
Long ago their heart decayed
Crimson blood red is the only color from their life that didn't fade
Will never know if a difference kindness and love could have made
Ultimate price these fragile lost souls have paid
No place to rest their weary head
Restlessness settles upon them as it's time for bed
No relief, only nightmares so sleep too they dread
Once they self-destruct there's no telling if they're the only one who will wind up dead
Their hatred for themselves and life continues to grow
As does a wickedness for revenge as they're feeling so low
Be the change needed to help re-write how the rest of the story will go
Let the love and compassion in your veins into anothers whose is struggling to flow

Never Forgotten

Candles lit to light their way
Honoring loved ones gone away
Remaining through hearts and memories a part of them will forever stay
For the deceased, this is their day

Sugar skulls galore on Day of the Dead
Celebrating the lives lost loved ones lead
Maybe they'll contact you upon sleeping in bed
Offering comforting words dancing through dreams in your head

Festivals and parades with abundance of Aztec marigolds throughout the day
Creation of alters gathering together at graves they pray
Favorite food dishes as gifts and possessions of deceased on graves they lay
On their spiritual journey they help guide them along their way

Some celebrate All Saints Day or All Souls Day instead
Everyone does things differently within their own home stead
Either way we all share similarities in honoring the dead
A piece of them will live on forever as they reside in our hearts and our head

After Forever

After forever when I can no longer be here
When memories start to fade don't fret I'll always be near my dear
An evening while out fishing, feeling lonely because it's me your missing
That's one of the very best times to be reminiscing
I'll be right there beside you with each cast of your fishing pole
As you sit fishing in one of my favorite honey holes
When you feel the warmth upon your face from the sun
It's a kiss and caress of my hand for you Hun
When you find yourself chilly due to the weather
That snug tight fit is me hugging you just like your sweater
When the gentle breeze lightly tickles as it blows through your hair
It's a sign from me letting you know that I'm there
When you hear the birds and crickets playing their songs
I'm singing for you too, in your heart I've been there all along
With the creeks steady peaceful flow
My love will be with you wherever you go
When you smell the scent of pine in the air
That's me pining for you, letting you know I still care
I'll be your cloud cover when the fish bite the best
Always protecting you, I'll be that eagle soaring high above its nest
When you start to fade to grey and you feel your heart begin to break
I'll add a splash of color and be the beautiful vibrant flower pedals you see beside the lake
If grief overcomes you in the midst of a storm and frozen on a standstill your numb with too much pain
I'll be raindrops of encouragement enticing you to dance in the rain
Don't think like the salmon that we had a great run
Our precious time together will never be done
Tall, proud, and strong like a solid oak tree
Let all of these things remind you of me
While sitting on the bank watching a beautiful sunset
I'll be the waves crashing over you, you'll never forget
If you decide to go out on your boat
I'll be your life vest that will help keep you afloat
Out fishing in nature is where we'd share some of our very best dates
You had me hook, line, and sinker, didn't need any bait
For you my loves, in heaven you're all well worth the wait
You will always be my fishing partners and very best mates
On evenings when the fish just won't bite
I'll be the stars that help guide you home and light up your night
I'll be the silhouette you see dance across the water from the light of the moon
Don't be in a hurry to get back to me too soon
When you catch a fish and think back to how I'd always catch the best ones
Your right, it's you and our kids and after forever when you's catch up we'll have even more fun

My Winter

Sure it comes with shoveling, salting, sanding, scraping, snow plowing and snow blowing
It also comes with so much more beauty that's well worth knowing
Snow blockades for snowball fights
Playing king of the mountain on a blanket of white
Explore tunnels into snow made forts
There's snow angels in shapes and sizes of all sorts
Take a break for tasty marshmallows in hot cocoa
Hike back up to the top of the sledding hill and go
Have fun on tubes, saucers, sleds and skis
Watch out below for beautiful snow covered trees
Snowboarding can give you such an adrenaline rush
Enjoy watching the sled dogs mush
Build some snow sculptures or a simple snowman
Take a ride and enjoy snowmobiling, ice fishing or to the crazy outhouse races because you can
Take time to catch snowflakes on your tounge
No matter your age it makes you feel young
Try out some snowshoeing or perhaps a kabogum run
Ice skating and ice hockey can also be fun
Hunters appreciate snow for tracking their deer
For the U.P winter is a wonderful time of the year
Tell stories sitting cozy with loved ones around a fire
There's so much about winter in the U.P I desire
This is only a small list of what makes winter in the U.P so super
It has so much more to offer, yah der ay I'm proud to be a yooper
Slip on a wet suit and surf the waves of Lake Superior
Being the largest fresh water lake in the world she isn't known for being inferior
Jump in a hot suana to get out of the cold
So many adventures and mysteries in the U.P to unfold
End your chilly day with a hot pasty, bowl of chili and a hot bath
When you wake up tomorrow you will probably have to shovel a new path
The U.P in winter is worth visiting, it's a beautiful sight
The U.P in winter is a beautiful winter wonderland delight

Bullying Through Eyes of a Child

11/07/17
My child came home from school today
Unlike every other day, she didn't want to play
She looked deep in thought and sat quiet for a while
I asked "what's wrong? Where's your pretty smile?"
She started with "well mommy I don't know what to do"
"the best part of my day was coming home to you"
So I asked if someone was mean to her at school
She said "no not to me mommy, but most the kids are cruel"
"They're mean to Bobby Joe, they say he has ugly toes"
"They're mean to Rose, they say she has a crooked nose"
"They pick on Sarah for wearing braces"
They pick on Zoey because she can't tie her shoe laces"
"They say Matt and Molly have four eyes"
"They say all the teacher does is tell lies"
"Curtis gets teased for the color of his skin"
"Angel gets teased for having two moms, they say it's a sin"
"They poke fun at Sandra, she has no hair, they threw her wig"
"They poke fun at Lee and call him a pig"
"They call Mark names too because he walks with a limp"
"I'm not sure why, but they call him a gimp"
"They said they won't be my friend if I talk to the others"
"I don't really care because we all have and need each other"
"I'm dreading tomorrow they're going to be mean to me too"
I'm going to pray for all of them tonight, the mean ones too"

Opening Day

Grandpa's famous venison beer chili the night before
He's no longer with us but was a man everyone would adore
Like other holidays filled with family traditions for so many so is deer hunting season
Everyone is welcome so take a stop by camp for a visit, you don't need a reason
Everyone is prepared and has sighted in their gun
Even that in itself with safety in mind can be loads of fun
Blinds are all ready, everyone's been baiting in advance
The woods are so beautiful at first glance
Wake up to grandpa saying "top of the morning to ya,daylight in the swamp" music to our ears
Time to start getting ready for our chance at taking down a deer
Quick breakfast and coffee as we get ready
Hopefully you don't get buck fever and hold your gun steady
Bundle up in all our warm gear to head out into the crisp morning air
Anticipating what will come and the stories we'll have to share
Take a brief break for lunch before heading back out
Over the walkie talkie "I shot a 7 pointer" you hear grandpa shout
No need to track it, dropped dead in its tracks
Go lend a hand to help haul it back
That night we share stories, venison jerky and a celebratory drink
Dad's watching from heaven with a smile and a wink
This season is about so much more then just shooting a deer
Giving thanks honoring your kill and traditions surrounded by great food and company, it's one of the best times of the year

Partner In Crime

Cracks in foundation you help to mend
Peaceful vibrations through chaos you send
A helping hand always willing to lend
Together rules have a tendency to bend
We can be ourselves with no need to pretend
Your crazy mixed with mine is the perfect blend
Are magnetic connection some may never comprehend
Together the whole world we'll take on and apprehend
My partner-in-crime till the end
Anyone would be blessed to call you a friend
