W. Blaine Wheeler Poem
Emerging just now
Hyacinths joyfully spread
Their lovely fragrance.

W. Blaine Wheeler Poem
A multi-hued leaf fell slowly
next to me
Lenau-like
As I stood watching its demise.
I did not ask the lonely leaf
if it loved
the gentle dying
of autumn.
Perhaps the leaf had enjoyed
its birth
and growth
through summer
While it survived fierce
storms
Testing its full strength
And now wanted nothing
more
Than to die gently.

W. Blaine Wheeler Poem
You have told me the story many times before,
old grandfather
of the teas;
but I will listen again
as you carefully pour
the hot green fragrance
And slowly tell me of the morning long ago,
old grandfather
of the teas,
when your last daughter
was born and died
as the heavens
Over Nagasaki disappeared and ashes rained
On your home and your wife and your baby,
old grandfather
of the teas.
