Skin Deep

when you look
you see nothing
but the girl you love to hate

to you she's just a closed book
who's exsistance is abhorring
to you who's nothing but great

but when i look in the mirror
i see a soul that is on fire
and a girl who's willing to fight

to get even one step nearer
to be all she aspire's
on the night her life ignite's

because beauty takes you nowhere
you end up in a heap
of nothing but the girl
that you used to be

you have to be willing to bear
that beauty's only skin deep
you have to hand over the pearls
and get up off your knees

because life doesn't let you weep
and life just come cheap
you've got to take a flying leap
because beauty's only skin deep

Different

You laugh because i'm different
I laugh because your not
You sneer and say i was an accident
I smile at something i'd forgot

You wonder why i smile
why i laugh and do not jest
i guess it's just my style
to stand out from the rest

it's almost an addiction
to be outside the box
to be free of your conviction
is to free my feet of itchy socks

so that the cool dew from the grass
can sink into my skin
when summer's come at last
freeing the child i hold within

while you all waste in a cage
the same in every acknowledgement
while i raise my head on stage

tell me
is it still abhorrent that i'm different?

Mask

take off the mask you wear
you fool everyone but me
i'm screaming to be free
i should know you just don't care

i'm pleading for a chance
fighting adolescense
searching for acceptance
but you never gave a second glance

so i took a flying leap
started my own revolution
i found it's quite an addiction
to be living on the edge

i'm finally breathing pure air making something of my life
too long i lived under your knife
i've finally forgotten despair

there is just one last thing i ask
it won't cause you pain or strife
just please, for once in your life
take off the mask.
