Where I Fall Off

Too many years,
Did I sit,
Listening to my thoughts,
Festering maliciously,
Rapidly, Unnaturally,

Malice and Compassion,
To the severest degree,
Polar opposites however,
coexisting in me,

Too many years,
Silence was my ally,
Don't speak your feelings,
You become a thorn in their side,

Emotion becomes weakness,
Sentiment a burden,
How wrong I was,
As a young man in Berlin,

Too many years,
I pondered the trivial,
Driven to delusion,
On minuet details raising mundane questions,

Too many years,
Did I lose myself,
But this is my last year,
For my road ends here.
