Silence

Many people hate the silence
It makes them think
The more you think,
The more you hear,
The more you feel,
The more you believe,
The more faith you will have.
And with that faith, hope and expectations,
There will always be disappointment, failure and sadness
Depression, anger

They believe in filling the gap
Between the silence
Because without silence
They will not be forced to
Think
Hear
Feel
To hope and believe
To be constantly bracing for impact
Waiting for the collision.

As for me,
I prefer the silence.
Because in silence,
In silence I find peace.

When I Am Older

And what shall I do, when I am old
What fortune lies untold
When I grow old
Will I be bold
Thrive among the smart and powerful

Will I, in future
Be who I always wanted to be
Will you be there with me
Strong, vibrant, free

Will you hear my name
On the streets
Or will you be there
Right beside me

Or will you watch
From a tower high
Watch me as I live or die

A thread upon a mighty rope
No we can't know
But we can surely hope
Hope for a better world

Hope for a better future
Somewhere my kids can grow
Without the burdens of this world

Where imagination thrives
Love and peace overflowing
War and famine, but a memory
Just another page in the history
Of our scarring, terrible, wonderful and awe inspiring world

So what will I do
Where will I go
No one knows
What future will be told,
How the world will unfold
When our pasts are just a memory

Shadows

A silent dark figure
That follows you wherever you may go
Creeping silently
Diligently
Purposefully
Never wanders
Never strays

Never changing
The long dark figure
Ever following
Never leading
Engaged in a continuous march
It mirrors your every step
Movement
Breath

And yet it cannot speak
Or hear
Think
Act out movements of its very own
A mime forevermore.

Anticipation

Time running, sprinting closer
The time rushes closer
Faster, faster, faster
No more time to hide behind
Closer, closer you're almost there
No time for thinking

Go, go, go
Times almost up
Hurry, you don't want to be late
Quickly now, we haven't much time
No looking back now
You're too far in

Keep going, keep running
There'll be no time for second thoughts
Faster, faster youll soon be there
No time for doubts or unfaught wars
Get ready, prepare
Don't back out now

Run, run, run
Time is running faster now
Sweeping me away
Away into my future
