Identity Crisis

Who am I?
Who are you?
Who are we?
Why am I here?
When is my time?
What am I supposed to do?
Where do I belong?
Why?

Courageous

Being courageous can mean many different things.
Someone who is courageous does something great.
Something life changing.
Something unforgettable.
A once in a lifetime kind of thing.
Someone who leaves a mark.
A doctor.
A veteran.
A dentist.
A teacher.
A best friend.
A mother.
A father.
A president.
Albert Einstein.
Walt Disney.

Coming of Age

I wish I could go back.
Back to the kickball games,
The sidewalk chalk drawings,
And playing until the street lights came on.

I wish I could go back.
Back to when my biggest worry in the world
was if I was going to get to play after school.
When my biggest problem was school because
I couldn’t figure out how to write in cursive.

I wish I could go back.
Because now I’m too old for kickball,
the sidewalks are just for walking,
and no one has time to play outside anymore.

I wish I could go back.
Because now my biggest worries are college
and how I am going to pay my bills.
School just seems never ending and every day
in every class seems impossible.

Ho Ho Ho

The elves are hard at work,
While Santa Claus reviews the naughty or nice book.
Frosty the snowman is outside trimming holly,
Getting in the Christmas spirit, and being oh so jolly!
Jingle Bells is sung by carolers all around the world.
Mrs. Claus is getting the sled ready, putting the sleigh bells on,
packing Santa’s bag, and baking his cookies.
Everyone at the north pole is crazy busy,
but it certainly is a winter fairyland.

New Years Resolutions

This year is going to be different.
This year I will lose the weight.
This year I will stay healthy.
This year I won’t take anything for granted.
This year I won’t give up.
This year I will make the extra effort.
This year I promise to be better.
This year I won’t fail.
Next year, I’ll say the same thing again.
