Alone - Solitude and Loneliness

Alone - Solitude and Loneliness

Solitude
is a state of mind
being solid as a rock
taking a walk in a country park
on a Sunday afternoon
alone,
deep in the forest but not lonely
in touch with the moment
reflecting, replenishing
being self aware
Solitude is something you choose

The sun fades into the darkness of night
the sky is clear and the full moon shines bright
in the distance the lone wolf howls at the moon while
the solitary owl perched high up in a tree
patiently waiting for it’s prey to appear

Loneliness
is a state of mind
being vulnerable as a child
taking a walk on a busy city street
on a Saturday afternoon
alone,
lonely in a crowd-full of people
not being aware of the moment
isolation, estrangement
an exaggerated awareness of being alone
Loneliness is imposed on you by others

The night give it’s place to the day
the sky is clear but the morning fog hides the sun
in the distance a lone dog howls for some unknown reason
in the park, a pigeon sits on the highest statue
	waiting for someone to appear
