Technology

Twitter and Facebook
Our favorite games
What’s in the latest that technology makes

Now we can share with a touch of a finger
And we can post on our favorite singer

WhatsApp and Face Time
Movies that stream
Couldn’t imagine this in my wildest dream

Sending a picture at top record speed
Now, what is happening?
Why, it’s Live Feed

So, in this era where everything’s quick
What do you value, what do you pick

Why should we bother to go anywhere
Technology’s fast but friendships are rare
We don’t need to be social because everything’s home
Interconnected, but we feel alone

This is the sacrifice
This is deal
Things are disposable
But nothing seems real

We must remember that we’re not replaced
And not lose humanity in all that we face

Technology’s useful but socializing matters
Life’s accelerated, but relationships – battered
Let’s combine advancement with old-fashioned ideals
And we’ll experience how an authentic , rich life truly feels

Differences

What causes discord amongst us
Diverse religions, lack of trust
Adversity coursing through our veins
And dogma embedded in our brains

We’re born so innocent and naïve
But disappointed, we do leave
The dearth of harmony and of peace
Will cause dissension to increase

Divergent races
Different cultures
Contrasting viewpoints we encounter

This leads to destruction
And turns to pain
So rivalry and hatred will remain

Let’s change misunderstanding
And let acceptance reign
Because we’re the same in eyes of God
And let humanity shine

There really is no difference
We all want the same things
Be good to one another
And kindness, this will spring

The Deception of Love

When I first met you
I was in awe
My heart was open and exposed

You seemed so special and unique
And you were everything I seek

We could communicate with our eyes
And our emotions could not disguise

I felt so safe and so complete
And my heart throbbed with every beat
We were connected on all levels
And in our devotion we would revel

But was it all a great illusion
Did I assume a wrong conclusion

Was it all wrong
Was it a huge lie
On misconceptions I relied

Why did you change
Or was that you
All that confusion
I went through

Sometimes love is not what it seems
And it beguiles us like dreams

Don’t let this enormous feeling scare you
Don’t let false promises despair you
When love arrives
It will not leave
And you will never be deceived

The Enchantment of Christmas

Glittering snow globes
Pine-scented wreaths
Winds from the North Pole
Blowing a breeze

Candy cane lanes
And beautiful sights
Gather on earth
On this magical night

Snow-covered needles
Blistery branches
Frost-painted windows
Icy-cold benches

Icicles hanging from trees formed like tears
Tunes serenade from far
And are whistling near

This time presents some magnificent scenes
Everything's festive and calm and serene
This season is special and brings joy and peace
It is the prominent and most blessed feast

The Haters

Left in a corner,
Hid in a shell
Misunderstood,
And not seen for myself

They disregard me
And have little trust
How they perceive me
Is filled with disgust

Based on illusion,
And centered in hate
No appreciation
Of how I've been helping of late

When I'm trying
They take it as fake
And when I give up
A big fuss, they do make

I can't disguise it
How awful I feel
I put on a show
But I need something real

Feeling so hopeless
I know not what to do
End up dejected
And I am real blue

I won't control it
What they will think
I'll be disappointed
But won't let myself sink

It doesn't matter
What they will say
Thinkin is futile
Actions do stay

So, in the end most perceptions are false
And they can play a very negative role
What's most important is what you yourself think
Don't let fear matter, Don't let yourself shrink

Enchantment of the Night

Enchantment of the Night

Only in nighttime, there’s enchantment
Which leads one to contentment
Skies are dark and streets are still
They submit to nighttime’s will

Stars are gleaming in the moonlight
They are dressed all in white light
Peering through the curvy clouds
Speak to each other, not quite loud

Angels plan out their assignment
Spread their wings that shine like diamonds
Fly above towards the constellations
And create musical vibrations

Dreams are sent to folks below
Heaven’s pulsing with a glow
All is magical and bright
During each and every night

People slumber while it’s calm
Enter a unique realm
Wishes are granted in the night
Skies emit a special light

These are very special times
As they’re specifically designed
To create a wondrous feel
And intentions, to instill

Only in nighttime, there’s magic
And such special things we imagine
This is a time to restore
Open up a different door….

Peer Pressure

When we went to high school
We’d do best to fit in
And our popularity was measured greatly
By the number of our friends

We dressed up in the fashions
That everyone would wear
And only spent time listening
To the gossip out there

And our thoughts and our values
Would always be in sync
And our cliques controlled us
And told us what to think

And if anyone would deviate
From the usual, standard norm
They surely would be bullied
And undoubtedly be scorned

And now what does it matter
What is the current trend
Before it was important
And now it reached its end

And where are all the people
That we were influenced by
The ones that terrorized us
The ones that made us cry

They’re likely not accomplishing
As much as what they thought
And not absorbing everything
That their lives have brought

Renounce the uniformity
And need for assimilation
It leads to disappointment
Resulting in frustration

One time it was essential
And vital to belong
We now see its triviality
And this doth makes us strong

The burden of conformity
Can be baseless and be unkind
Stand out and trail your own road
Your existence’s great design

Emotional Abuse

Within the confines of the prison
Lies an abandoned soul
He’s looking through the shattered prism
For emotions to take hold

He’s searching for the pain and pleasure
To acquire a human form
Within the exploration
Begins the evil storm

Security is distant
And melancholy strikes
The victim is resistant
And hides his saddened eyes

The sense of self is broken
The roles are undefined
A place of isolation
In a lost and cluttered mind

Intolerable injustice
Insufferable grief
Unbearable confusion
In answers that he seeks

Reclaiming the connection
Is his essential feat
He must untangle cobwebs
That frame over his deceit

Obstructions are arising
And trust is growing dim
There gathers disappointment
The outlook being grim

His only expectation
Must come from unity
And gathered from a viewpoint
Of sensibility

Oh, rise up our hero
And care for your own self
You’ll come out of destruction
And cease this torturous hell….

The Joy of Winter

Crackling fire
Falling flakes
What a pretty scene this makes

Leaves are rustling on the ground
Nothing nearby makes a sound

Lighted candles on the hearth
People that are full of joy and mirth

Pets are resting safe inside
From the storm they're trying to hide

While the wind is howling by
And there's turmoil in the sky

We must stay in our retreat
Heads on winter, we will meet

A Tribute To My Grandmother

A smile lit up her sunken face
The years of hardship could not erase
Her strong resolve, her great appeal
The zest for living, could not steal

Our lives were solidly entwined
A part of heaven’s great design
The hours that we spend involved
Contributed a special role

You left strong imprints on my soul
And left me lessons to uphold
We share so much and ‘till the end
I look upon the time we spent

We went to parks, we went to eat
We savored all our favorite treats
We watched out shows, we played some cards
We went on trips, both near and far

I’m glad we had our special time
And that our journey was divine
And now I’m left with thoughts of thee
And memories I cannot see
Instilled within my center
They never will surrender

So, thank you Grandma for what you shared
‘Cause no one could quite compare
With how you treated me so kind
And everything you left behind

The fondest wish that I could make
Is that our connection doesn’t break
I hope you’re well
We’ll meet again
And that the distance doesn’t stain

And we will find what we have shared
As it was truly, truly rare
