Thunder Booms

As the Soldier stands ready to fight,
The thunderstorm rolls in with its might.
Turning the day into night.

As the wind sweeps the sand like a broom,
Off in the distance the artillery booms.
Mixed with the sound of the thunder booms.

The Soldier is silent throughout the scene,
With a look that’s calm but lean and mean.
He has no fear because he is with his team.

The thunder gets weak and fades away,
But the Soldier was still standing that day.
Thanks for protecting and showing me the way.

The price for freedom was paid today

Listening To Small Voices

My voice is so small
How can I change the world
In order to have heaven on earth

I’m not that smart or strong
Either I’m invisible or treated like a dog
No one can hear my voice so small

But my small voice heard your inner child
It was afraid of the gangsters on the corner
It was dreaming of playing in the sprinklers with the other children

I see happiness and love
As you watch your first child comes into this world
As you leave your love ones all alone

I see ways to make the world a better place
As men fight to be the alpha male
As people struggle to hold their families together

Please hear me now before it’s too late
For healing the world is everyone’s fate
Only love can be so great

Be True To Yourself

I heard the rap, rap, rapping at my chamber door
At first I thought it was that pesky raven and his words of ‘Never More’
But I didn’t want to be disturbed
So I ignored the rapping upon my chamber door

I could sense the anger as the rapping got louder
But I wouldn’t budge, not even an inch
As I sat down to eat some clam chowder
I thought I could use my ear plugs in a pinch

The rapping became softer upon my chamber door
I felt like I was punishing a child for something it didn’t do
The feeling started to make me blue
I started towards my chamber door because it seemed like the right thing to do

I opened the door
The one to my heart
My reflection was staring back at me and saying
‘Welcome home, you have been greatly missed’

Dreamers

It’s hard to dream the dream when the world around you wants only violence.
Why do I dream? Why am I a dreamer? What good am I to this world?
Who am I without my dreams?

Cold and hard is the heart of a non-dreamer.
Ice covers the eyes and blocks out the colors of the Universe.
They dress in shades of darkness so the colors can’t get near them.

I hang my head low and my colors are faded.
Oh spirit, help me unlock the colors from within.
The power of the dreamer is sometimes hard to find.

A cry of mercy and a plea of hope, escapes from a dream.
The colors must have their freedom, no matter what the cost.
The dreamer bleeds and bones are broken.

Finally, the key is discovered and the colors burst forth.
The colors blind all as they shred the nightmares to pieces.
Bones are still broken and the darkness still waits for its chance once again.

The key is the dream. Never stop dreaming for you are the chosen dreamer.
