Pain Will Perish

Pain led me to a funeral one day
To a coffin, where a lifeless body lay
Still as my heart when I neared his face
That once wore a smile, once found, now lost without a trace

The pain struck me like lightning when the sight of death reflected in my eyes
Then all that I heard for days were the echoes of my cries
I was about to leave the memory months later, with tears dripping on the floor
With screams of sorrow, a torn apart soul

Until…I felt fire begin to burn the anguish in my heart
Rip the blanket of darkness and pain apart
Replace death with life, darkness with light
Eradicating every chain in sight

The cries were slowly deafened by screams of hope
Roaring, “I can go through this, pierce through the burden in my soul!”
The image of the body is still etched in my mind
But this time, the memory fuels the will to leave the tears behind

Pain prepare to PERISH! Internal Death, DREAD YOUR END!
You won’t haunt me any longer, once all my scars mend!
Surely, Sorrow will not laugh last
For strength will overcome, and blur the past

Today, a year later, I feel freedom in my veins
No longer do I sense Suffering and Pain
For Strength led me to a funeral today
To a coffin, where Pain and Sorrow lay
