Baiju Joseph Thalupadath Poem
When we travel first time
All alone to a new country
Many worries will land
Along with you at the airport.
Somebody at the immigration
Will be scanning our eyes
Using the camera lenses
To take an image of our worries,
The colors of our dreams
From our thumb impressions.
The dates of our solitude
Will be stamped on our passport.
San Francisco, when did I land
Into your colorful dreams
Like a silent computer robot
By loaning my village memories.

Baiju Joseph Thalupadath Poem
Grandma never told me in her stories
How the volcanoes are formed.
Grandma's God created only good things
The green, the sun, rivers, life...
God created Adam's and Eve's heart
From the calmness of Pishon river. *
But without nobody knowing
Fires started erupting in their hearts.
Life is like a river on fire these days
Do you feel something burning inside you?
Small or big, yellow or red...
It’s burning, but we all show a calm volcano face.
Volcanoes opened their heavenly calmness
To embrace the pains and flames of our tears...
Ages together it’s embracing our confessing hearts,
Grandma never told me about volcanoes...

Note - The Pishon is one of four rivers (along with Hidekel (Tigris), Phrath (Euphrates) and Gihon) mentioned in the Biblical Book of Genesis. In that passage, these rivers are described as arising within the Garden of Eden.

Baiju Joseph Thalupadath Poem
Apple seed rosary
Given by grandpa
When I was
So young...
Thursday Morning
Sitting in the
Sunnyvale bus to work.
Luminous Mysteries.
Wooden Cross,
Love crucified .
Blood drops of
Wine from Cana.
White Dove
Flying ...
Just above the
Nails on his leg.
Thousands of
Blackbirds
Flying away
From the Dove.
