Stifled Cries

Stifled cries
No concern for the black man until the black man dies
Images of black and blue flash before my eyes
How many times?
Unprotected our men go into the world
Our protectors unafraid to kill even in front of their little girls
Philandro Castile licensed to carry a gun
I wouldn’t advice a black man to do this, it just gives our oppressors a reason
They are trained to to detain the minorities
I condemn the acts of these violently guilty
Me and my people stand alone
Swimming in this filthy water
Fear for our sons, brothers and now for our daughters
Dead in their prison cells
At least they made it there
Alton Sterling’s death was too early
Age 37 man, he was only selling CDs
RIP he was a good man, his criminal background all over the news
The media shaking it up like it’s a covered test tube
But it’s that what this is?
This is all a test to see how many of us they can put to rest
Before we heighten our cry
Sandra Bland, successful suicide?
It was all a lie
“The police officers who killed Philandro and Alton might not be persecuted, here’s why"
Leaders like MLK and Malcolm X even willing to die
But that was 60 years ago
Why are we repeating history?
Our own POC's time of trouble
Dear God, what is to become of me?
560 people killed by the police in 2016
5 officers killed in Dallas and now the government’s in a fury
“We are now in a state of emergency” no one was keeping score
But now we have a problem? What we were doing before?
Destruction to Indians, Latinos, and African Americans but
“Why is everything always about race?”
Well I dare you to say that to anyone’s face
Who’s lost a loved one during this attack of disgrace
A struggle because we’re different, but we’re all the same
Quite frankly I’m tired of all the lies
Before another brother or sister dies
Before another video of a murder flashes before my eyes
I ask God to hear and answer our
Stifled cries
