Badge of Courage

Marks.
                              Ugly
                        Mesmerized
                  My untrained eyes.
Holding breath, traced the extent of conflicts
Of veins crisscrossing like cracks on the floor.
                     After the quake
                         Prominent
                           Gaping
                             Yawn.
                              Bold
                            Boring
                         Deep into
                    My closed navel.
Worn like a badge of courage for my young.

Just Between Us

Mother, did you mind whenever I lose
patience at your antics? When I frown and
get mad whenever you aim your blue
slippers and hit my face right
on target? When you don't have anything
more to throw because they're all by
my side? When you made all

Sorts of noise because nobody's
looking at you? Have you all counted now
the bulbs at the ceiling and the sunflowers
 painted on your placemat?

Do you call me by my name now?

Should I put this fresh Ylang-ylang by your
 ears or this single Sampaguita?

Carry on with your song, Mother.

Yesterday I brought home a slice of your
favorite bread and rushed to give you. I didn't
find you at your sofa. The lump in my
 throat took time to subside.

...and Mother, I miss you. Yes, I sincerely do.

Memory

Breeze blew dark cobwebs
As loathsome monologues crawled
Out of her cracked brain.

Remembrance

Passive resistance
                                Expelled uncharted voyage
                                         Miserably failed.

A Gilded Cage

Am I so naïve that I will not know when

Glow worms beckoned me to a velvet trough?
Incantations this pink, yellow and green combo
Lingered on; turned into whispers of restless shadows,
Deluded my senses like a yo-yo as
Euphoria coursed through my vein in a
Distended logic of the flesh. Yet as my

Cosmic dust navigate mercilessly into this chasm,
A disturbed soul, unfettered no face no essence,
 Guileless, gibberish looked back with
Eyes devoid of emotions dulled into a welcome stupor.
