It's Time To Wake Up

I’m tired,

I look to my left,

I look to my right,

Do you know what I see?

People’s stares,

That burn like flares,

Eyes that only seek judgement

Not enlightenment,

A girl posts a photo,

If she gets 200+ likes she is pretty,

All the boys will want her,

However if she gets 2 likes she is ugly,

And no boy wants her,

Gone are the days when beauty was a thing of beauty,

For now it’s just a name,

The more it’s said to you,

The more you know it’s you,

Wake up

I’m tired,

I look to my left,

I look to my right,

Do you know what I see?

Everyone is scrolling,

Blindly following,

Constantly seeking approval,

Comparing themselves to pictures of,

“Perfect couples”

“Perfect people”

Having the time of their lives,

Giving us unattainable standards,

Wake up.

I’m tired,

I look to my left,

I look to my right,

Do you know what I see?

Social media is the world we live in,

But it’s all just fantasy,

Just a medium of mind control,

Making countless commit suicide,

Making countless people cut themselves,

A place where the minority,

With the vote of the majority,

Decide what is right.

It’s like a dictatorship,

They set laws called trends,

And we have no choice but to follow,

Or we be labelled backward and uncool,

Or we be humiliated and judged in the courts of Facebook,

Or we be persecuted in the prisons of Instagram,

And displayed on the pages of snapchat.

It’s no longer about what is right,

It’s about what is new, trending.

If Only You Knew

Did you ever realise that one day you could be gone,

You’d close your eyes

Never to open them again.

That the world for you would stop,

But would continue for the rest,

Did you ever realise that one day,

Your time will be up,

The period for use of the software you call your spirit,

The hardware you call your body would run put,

This time there would be no renew button,

No extended version,

No premium subscription.

Did you ever realise that one day,

You would take your place among tombstones,

Unaware of the world above you,

Unaware of what they say about you now,

Unaware of how your wealth was divided a few hours after your funeral,

Unaware of those who remember you.

You see,

On your tombstone,

There are two dates and inbetween them is a hyphen,

That hyphen is you,

All you did,

All you were,

All you ever achieved,

It’s all there,

Therefore do not store your wealth on earth,

Instead store it in heaven,

Do not do things tomorrow,

Instead do they today,

Cherish each breath as if it were your last,

And one day it will be your last,

For soon you will go back to the soil you were made from.

Make your hyphen memorable.

Sugar and Spice

What do you want from me,
All the lies,
Looks like time flies,
All of my pride,
Left when i cried,
I'm ill
But I still got the skill.

The skill,
To kill,
And devour your meal,
Last I checked you favourite was veal,
Or was it just a prank to hide what was real,

Real,
More like reveal,
It was always about your appeal,
Yet here I am standing still,
I've even tried to take a pill,
All I seem to want,
Is to tell you that I can't,
Keep living like this
I wanna make peace,
I want our little infinity,

Infinity
Infinity seems like a false reality,
Cause to you i've never been a priority,
Remember your favourite people have always been the majority,
Yet am an inborn minority,

That is my past,
All that, I have cast,
For i have run fast,
You are All I want,
All I want is you,
I felt so scared,
I wasn't prepared,
This is me,
I'm here to make a plea,
Forgive me.

Tails

We all have demons we struggle to escape from,

We hear stories of how people overcame theirs,

But really how did they do it,

How did they get through it,

Coze it seems easier said than done,

It all seems like a perfect plan,

Until you start,

Days go by and before you know it you’ve become undone,

It’s funny because you’re worse off than you were before.

A coin has two sides,

So does this journey,

Heads for overcoming,

Tails for enslavement,

Deliverance may just be a flip away,

But so is pain and struggle,

Long cold nights when you have no one to cuddle,

It’s just you and a puddle full of your tears,

And in the reflection you see your fears.

As for now I can only see one side of the coin,

Maybe I’ll write to you when I get to the other side.

Time

TIME

Have an attitude of gratitude,
Be thankful for the time you spend,
For time you cannot lend nor send,
For once it’s gone it will never look back at you,
Time is what we all have in common,
So tell me why isn’t success common,

Why are there rich people?
 Poor people
And the comfortable middle class,
Why do some go too soon?
And others stay too long,
Why does time fly?
And at the same time promise to heal all wounds,
Why is it that the more time we kill?
The more time kills us.

Yesterday is gone,
Tomorrow has not yet come,
We have only today,
Let us begin,

Things done later,
Are not necessarily greater,
I often wonder to myself,
What is this later people often speak of,
It’s seems that their time banks are filled with bundles of later,
For me there is no later,
All that there is is NOW,
Stop wasting your time,
You only have so much ,
A packet of milk get’s stamped an expiry date before it leaves the plant,
We are the same,
As soon as we are conceived we get an expiry date stamped onto us,
Just as the milk is unaware of it’s last day,
So are we,

Please listen to my plea,
For I am short of glee,
Open your eyes and see,
People die every minute,
What are the chances that you’re not next?
Be selfish with your time,
Give it if what you get back is valuable,
Thank you for taking your time to read this,
Now go and tell all about time.

Take a Look

Take a look at what is happening today,

The rich are getting richer,

The poor are getting poorer,

The youth are being misled,

Therefore I have made a decision,

Instead of using my talent to write about infatuation,

I will use it to touch others,

To speak about true love for one another,

For that is my purpose,

What is yours?

Now is now,

Cherish each moment as if it were your last,

For one day it’ll be your last

In a grave you will be cast,

You will return to dust,

Live like you die today,

Plan like you live forever,

If you don’t stand for anything in this room we call society,

You will fall for anything that passes in this room we call society,

Throw away the labels,

The false fables you tell yourself,

Be you,

Be free,

Don’t try to fit in,

Instead be the best you you can be,

So don’t go around telling people about your story,

Most of them don’t care and the rest are just happy it’s not them,

Shhhhhhhhhhh,

Keep quiet,

Let your success make the noise,

Work until you no longer have to introduce yourself,

If you want your dreams to come true then wake up,

For that is it,

Make your mark.
