I Imagined

I thought about you today
After we had talked,
I couldn’t get you off my mind
And you squeezed into my heart.

You touch a part of me,
That I thought had left
And slowly imagined to myself
My soul mate, I have met.

I imagined your eyes
Piercing into my very soul,
And pulling out the good in me
Just to have and hold.

I imagined your strong arms
Wrapping me oh so tight,
And the safeness that I felt
Has melted my cold and distant heart.

I imagined your voice
Speaking quietly in my ear
Washing away all my fears
And drying up my tears.

I imagined your body
Curled up beside my own
And realized too quickly,
That my heart had found a home.

I imagined that I saw you
Being strong, loving and kind,
And I thought to myself
That you were really blind.

I imagined everything
I know about myself
And I wonder when you would
Place me back on the shelf.

And I imagined for all your good,
Your kindness and your strength,
If you will touch your lips to mine,
And be filled with passions drink.

And I imagined your loving me
With all your heart and soul
And would it be hard for you
For me to have and hold.

And then I imagined a lifetime
Without you,
Then I told myself
I could not live without you.

And I imagined how many tears
I had to cry to find you.
And I prayed there would come a time
When no more tears will fall.

And I imagined it all.....

Then and Now

In the beginning God did create
In seven days, a perfect place.
Man and beast, trees and hills,
Rugged lands and daffodils.
Clear were the skies, clean was the air,
No need to have a Smokie the Bear.
The trees were tall,
Yet some were small,
Wanting to be a tree so tall.
Animals played in the sun all day
While butterflies fluttered
In the skies, did play.

And that was then……….

And now……..

Like the belly that is never satisfied,
We kept building and building
And hurting the skies.
We destroy the lands everyday,
This was never God’s intended way.
The drilling and spilling of the earth’s inner core
The melting of glaciers, crying out “no more!”.
The sink holes promising to refill the lands,
All at the dangerous hands of man.
Bombs being ignited and sent to and fro,
Rockets meddling in the heavens to go.
We’ve damaged our planet,
What’s another two or three?
Soon our air won’t be fit to breathe.
The water is weak and the fish are dying,
But it’s at our hands, so why are we crying?
The endangered list is growing daily,
But it’s at our hands, because of our killings.
The summers are hotter, the winters are colder
I wonder if we could be so much bolder.
We can’t blame God, it’s not his fault,
We are destroying His world, our melting pot.
We had our Eden, and then we left,
To try and improve, all that we kept.
We shunned all we had,
We played with free will,
Let us think, what is left for us to kill?
We’ll knock down the mountains
From the inside out,
And then we will cry and shout,
Because of the droughts.
The natural basins will all wash away,
Then there won’t be a place
For all the children to play.
The fields will all drown
And the crops won’t grow---
We’ll put up our tractors, rakes and hoes.
Disease will quickly fall into place,
This will be the end of the human race.

The Ring

I looked at the diamond
You placed upon my hand
And looked at how it was enclosed
Within a golden band.
I thought to myself
Of what it really means
And how it came from your heart
A very complex thing.
The diamond had many, many cuts,
One for every month we loved,
The brilliance of its shine,
That had once been rough.
Then I looked closer
At the diamond set in gold
And noticed it was a heart
For me to have and hold.
I did not see a single flaw,
Not even one or two
For when you love someone,
You know your heart is true.
I looked at the setting,
Which held it tightly in its place,
And saw a small set of hands,
In which to keep it safe.
I looked at the band of gold,
And stared at it for a while,
And saw that it was perfect
In size and depth and time.
There was not a scratch upon it
Nor a breaking point
It only signified to me,
The love that’s in your heart.
I took it off for just a time,
And glanced inside the band,
And saw the words, “forever true”
Forever, love your man.

The Meeting

Two strangers meet
So much alike
They feast together
Into the night.

In for a penny
In for a pound
Counting their lucky stars
For what they have found.

Joy and laughter
Peace and love
Neither one
Wanted to give up.

A lasting meeting
Not a one night stand\Two hearts joined
And began to sing.

The meeting's not over
Their life has begun
United together
Forever as one.

A Lesson Learned

Eyes meeting in the early morning,
Who needs light?
As your eyes twinkle like the stars.
Flirting back and forth
Teasing words of things to come.

Touching hands, caressing bodies,
Reaching peaks, and then free-falling.
Quick to begin, too soon, too fast.
Another thing that does not last.
End it quickly, the pain's not deep.
.

Lies unspoken, deception is high,
Add to it, another lie.
Mistakes repeated, lessons returned,
Build up the wall,
A lesson learned.
