There Will Be Better Days

There will be better days
Just believe in it
Put yourself in the feelings
as if you were already receiving it
Don't dwell on the let downs
and sorrows of yesterday
Live in the moment
Believe in greater
And God will make a way
I'm telling you
There will be better days
Open your eyes and see
I pray that the sun will shine
wherever the rain may be
The storm will pass
For it won't be long
That you'll be living in victory
And God will create in you a new song
So listen when I say
There will be better days
Just believe
Stay hopeful
Stand in faith
And thou shall receive

Night Walk

The beauty from within overshadows
my brokenness
A voice of hope spoke unto my hopelessness
one hopeless rainy night, as my tears
merged with the raindrops
See, I had to take that walk
The soothing of the rain eased my pain, as
comfort fell upon me in the midst of
my prayer

Yesterday

Yesterday perished
when tomorrow came
Today won't be the same
as what's its name
So, don't dwell on it
Live in the moment
Embrace today with a
hug and a smile
Admire the beauty that
surrounds you
Be thankful that you
were chosen to open your eyes
Today is a gift so, cherish it
Yesterday perished, but the
good news is
Today has arrived

War Ready

War ready
That I am
Ten toes down
In faith I stand
I'll never bend, break, crumble, nor fold
The verses I cling to
In my heart I shall hold
I'll never wave my flag in defeat
Because I see my victory
War ready
That I am
Ten toes down
In faith I stand
When the war gets tougher
I'll still face difficulties with a cheerful spirit
Tears may fall down my cheeks for only a split second
But, then I remember 2 Corinthians 12:8-10
"My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness"
War ready
That I am
Ten toes down
In faith I stand

Who I Use To Be

I can't be
Who I use to be
Because who I use to be
was hindering me
Keeping me from a better me
Stuck in my ways
Suffering from my self
inflicted afflictions
So, I had to seek and
spiritually eat
And that lead me to the
reconditioning of my mind
Leaving all foolish things behind
I don't want to be
Who I use to be
Because who I use to be
was hindering me
Keeping me from a better me
That person is no longer
Now that I'm spiritually, mentally,
and emotionally stronger

Flaws

Look into my eyes
and tell me if you see my "flaws"
You act like I wear my "flaws" on my sleeves
visible to the eyes of those
who anxiously waits to tear me apart
limb from limb
And I ask you again
When you look into my eyes,
can you see my "flaws"?
What about at a fifty foot distance, or
in mid conversation?
Five minutes in
your own personal evaluation of me
Can you really?
Can you really see my "flaws"?!
