Mask

I stare blankly 
And without purpose
As I try to hide what’s going on inside my mind

I think about telling you
But decide against it
Because I don’t think you’d care
So we talk about the weather instead

Just another conversation
Another day of concealing
Random words make random phrases
And they all mask the problem

I produce a fake smile
As you hold this conversation with excitement
Thinking it’s the one we’re supposed to be having

I wish I could tell you everything
So you’d understand how broken I am

You deserve an explanation
For my dying eyes
My Fading smile
And my infrequent laughs

I don’t even know if you’d care
Or if you’ve noticed any of this
But in case you have
I’m sorry
But I’m not okay
And I’ll tell you about it soon
