Truly

I feel at times I have a gift
When I put paper under ink
Yet, words of despair and misery
Are all that I can think
Whats messed up is when I speak out loud
Most words come out sounding grand
But I don't apply it to my life
A quagmire I don't understand
'Doesn't apply himself', words not foreign to me
They've been there all my days
For a while now its been growing on me
Now I'm caught up in a haze
Like a deer trapped in the headlights
Not knowing which way to run
Got to make a choice and see it through
Something real I've not yet done
It would be to easy to make excuses
Sure, I can blame it on my past
But I must be honest, I made the choices
And wrong ones, lets say they're vast
So at a crossroads again I stand
To pick a path with far less lying
Because it eats me up so bad each day
Before sleep, I think of dying
So, I'll keep faith in knowing that
I have so much to give
I'll pray to God, the lord above
All I want to do is live!

                  truly.
