My Lifesavers

Do you know how many lives you have changed,
how many lives you’ve completely rearranged?

You two are miracle workers,
Without you, we would be berserkers.

You are lifesavers,
Come on now, you could be mayors.

An Armed Octopus

An Armed Octopus
By Jared Smith

An octopus went
off to battle. A good thing
that he was fully armed.

Brown Cottontails

There was once some brown cottontails
They hopped on a boat with sails
They drifted away
Out into the sea
They were lost in a big gale

Springtime

Springtime
Waves crashing against docks
Flowers blooming by the rocks
Animals starting to wake
The Great Bear with a backache

Springtime
Spring will come, all in good time

Springtime
Is here to stay

Springtime
Mother Nature has to decide
Whether to stay or hide

Indian History

The Indians are Najavo
The army says "GO"

"Go to the reservation,
they are for you preservation"

Wovoka started the Ghost Dance
To pull Indians out of their trance

"We will fight for reform,
and we will not conform"

Custer discovered gold,
in the land so cold

Forces clashed at the Little Bighorn
A battle full of scorn

Summer

Summer here to stay.
Music plays softly, drifting.
And life is renewed.

Birds

Bright, beautiful birds
Upon two wings so precious
Bright and beautiful

To Never Be Told

His life is hell
It will never be well
He has to hide
His thoughts inside

He can never be free
or ever be me
He is hated
Always incapacitated

There are only two
that help him be who
he is today
And show him the way

his life will never be the same
They think it’s all a game
able to be in control
Living with a black soul

He is always tested
but never bested
Test after test
Never given a rest

He is always told
You’ll never die old
You’ll just be nothing
Never something

Never rich, but never poor
At peace, never more
Battling untreated depression
People wondering why he shows aggression

Showing emotion
Unabidding devotion
Hiding the true thought
Going through his day like a robot

his life is a multi-layered lie
Don’t know why he bothers to try
No one wants me
Was this my destiny?
