With One Mistake

As I close my eyes tonight
and prepare to say good-bye,
I remember all of the choices I've made
and I slowly start to cry.
The night had come, we were fine
until the Devil showed his face,
We were young, we had no sense of time
I didn't mean to make that choice.
I was foolish to think I couldn't lose
you were crazy to stay with me,
If only I could live forever with you
if only we could see eternity.
I'm afraid to live without you
I can't live with the shame I hide,
You were here, now you're gone, what can I do
I can't live, knowing that because I drank, you died.
Friends are supposed to watch out for each other
never let the other one down,
But I've taken your life away forever
everything you once knew is now gone.
I was the one who drank
yet, you were the one to die,
I wish only to take your place
I cannot live a lie
I knew the devil that possessed me,
was stronger than my love for you
I should've fought the urge, the necessity
then my friend, I'd still have you.
I'm sorry I took your life away
I took away your hopes and dreams,
You should be the one living, the one who stayed
I should be the one dead. . .
that's the way it already seems.

Wishful Thinking

Little children playing marbles
having so much fun,
They look so innocent, seem so free
I can't help but wonder, why not me?
I once had a childhood
I once was innocent and free,
But now I live alone with drugs
the streets are my only home.
Can't you see. . .
I can't go back, it's too late to change
my life is almost over now,
If only I wasn't so scared and alone
maybe I could face the truth.
I am a soldier who has died in a war
I will no longer march in victory,
I've strayed from the path, I'm lost
no longer will I see the light, nor hope for any dreams.
I am but another lost soul
I have no real identity,
I'm trying not to regret my choices
I'm dying, you're not, don't follow in my foot steps,
remember you're free, stay innocent, live this way
this life, for me, even if only in a lost souls
never waking dream.

Upon An Angels' Wing

There is a time and a place for tears
there is a reason why they are shed,
But, with each heavy warm salt drop
there is someone looking down, crying from on high.
Through the night, into the day, the tears remain to fall
but now a light comes into view, an Angel appears. . .
The Angel says "Don't cry for me, I'm okay, today I got my wings."
and you answer with a tear, that you place upon his wing.
The Angel flies away, to the world unseen
but you know that your tear flies too, upon your Angels' wing. . .
So as the Angel continues to fly, he looks to you and says
"I have taken all your sorrow in this one tear drop,
never wonder why, just know I'll keep it until your time comes next,
as a reminder of your love for me."
With these final words he leaves, and there's a twinkle in your eye
you know now you'll be all right, for you have an Angel, always by your side.

Strength

Once in a lifetime you face great challenges
obstacles you must overcome, opportunities you miss,
the world weighs on your shoulders
troubles devour your mind,
all the time you sit and wonder
what do you need to find?

Should you look for someone to share your life with
or try to endure life on your own,
relying only on inner strength
Strength. . . a word that holds power,
demanding at least a second thought.

If only it could last forever, then life wouldn't be so tough
look inside your heart, true strength comes from within,
you should never look too far, to find courage to keep on living.
