Abby Ratterman Poem
Hello World
In here it is dark but warm
I hear a voice, it is near yet far
I may be small in form,
But I am why they are.
Near her heart I lay,
I won’t be unknown to her for long
I am a work of art they say
I may yet be tiny, but my heart beats strong
I was knit in her womb by a great King
My tiny home has grown with me
By now I am known; joy, I bring
My ears hear of who I am to be
The light comes fast
I am scared now
Warmth comes to me at last
A soft touch I feel on my brow
Warm arms hug me close
I hear her voice
A touch on my nose, then my toes
I am His choice
Into her arm I am curled
She is warm and soft
I smile, hello world

Abby Ratterman Poem
Love, a four letter word
A meaning we think we know
A significance that is nary e’er heard
To the wind, by people does this word blow
What does this tiny word mean?
To give of oneself beautifully and wholly
Stay free of sin if possible, to stay clean
Don’t look at others as though they are lowly
The gift of one’s purity in marriage
A life given willingly for a friend
The broken we mustn’t disparage
Happily, for another we’ll break and bend
It is an act of the will
Actions, as they go
Not something you feel
The will to love will grow
Love, a meaning not taken seriously
A word we shouldn’t allow ourselves to forget
Love, a word often used mysteriously
Though used lightly, ne’er, I hope, with regret
