Druids

the underground tunnels that capture small intervals of light the shadowy passages that wind over lost crumbs of significance you chose this dark direction under wraps with each hidden layer of apocalyptic wonder do you really know what lies ahead in every labyrinth that the psyche endures druids walk up and down the walls of time with only one wish to see clearly.

Aquamarina

submerged in a watery grave
lies a mermaid from Atlantis
her skin glowed a luminous light
one small prick from a pink shell
and she crystallized into a vapor
tail fins like billowing scarves and
pearlescent aquamarine scales
flowing hair entwined with a seaweed crown
appeared once again above the water's surface
She sifts through the sand
collecting stones and brittle bones
to leave necklaces for small children
who dream her into life.

Dream Time

the man wept openly
all over his shirt
he could feel the tension
built up in his nerves
at any moment
the hangman would politely
ask him to wear a noose
and slip off his soul
by the wayside
how did things get so complicated
his fate belonging to the crowds
of jeering onlookers
he realized that if he
prayed hard enough
he could make himself faint
and all his feelings would be submerged
somehow he literally disappeared
and found himself a room of lit candles
in an empty space of his mind.

Sorry Sorrow

it's not your fault
that you are invisible
you have a striking resemblance
to a lightly drawn shadow
it isn't a mask that can wear you
no presence to strike
only loneliness can guide
any essence left from you
but then
isn't it always that way
for a woman without expression.

Deer Encasement

soundproof glass houses
surrounded by svelte deer
their only hiding place
amid roaring mechanical monsters
they graze on the green elastic shrubbery
and chew the somber apples off the ground.
Soon a blanket of white dust
and the impression is lost,
the impression of nature.

I Miss My Friends

the intense quiet could shatter glass
it was despair at its finest point
the way the movements were all consigned
to one single breadth
no one could make a sound
without the approval of the clock
and the world was flatlined
no fortunate adventures
the gaping holes of being lost in time
without a single way out.

Blue Leilani

lush blue syringes
filled with caked on pus
she is not a mannequin
nor a living doll
nor dead space ajar.
She likes to stare
at the backs of her hands
as if at any moment
they would mutate into dust.
She can still feel
their presence
as she reaches out for air
one cup of blue air.
An empty yearning,
an empty gesture,
withheld alone.

River

i will protect you
from the encircling fumes
your slender hands
beating against the fragmented world
it's all on fire now
the young can still feel
what the old have become
you must face it all alone
not in a trance.
