All For You

You came in from the cold to warm my life,
a beating heart resuscitating my imprisoned soul –
bringing colour to the palette of my life.
I gave you me, all of me… all for you

I was your oasis in the wasteland,
a drink of cool water in the burning sands –
quenching your heart.
I gave you me, all of me… all for you

The waves of existence lashed against our fortress,
determined to erode the foundations set in love –
and carved in the bark of our hearts.
I gave you me, all of me… all for you

Us, two against the world, we faced it all and even more,
nothing could divide us – tear us apart…
but you did! From the inside out, you broke us!
I gave you me, all of me… all for you

Ripped at the seams, what was once is no more,
the essence of us left to bleed – to flow red into the sand…
Sacrifices, compromises, choices made meant nothing, even though
I gave you me, all of me… all for you

You caused my soul to bleed because of your selfish deceit,
the secrets you kept exploded into the light – searing the truth that I wasn’t enough…
Excuses, justifications, waterlogged reasons couldn’t hide the fact
that it was all about you, just you… all for you

So here we are, broken but not beaten,
the page has turned and a new chapter opens up –
new possibilities, horizons to be chased, a new yellow-bricked road to follow
because you finally realised… all for you

Time heals all wounds they say, but we will never be what we were,
facts have to be faced and decisions made –
and one day you will turn to me, really look at me and say…
I’m here, all of me… all for you

Dolphin

Waves
Captain Nemo bids farewell
a sinking ship
hopes disappearing 'neath
an ocean of sapphire blue.

A turquoise cocoon
dreams of spirits calling
calling my name
welcoming me home.

Currents
Atlantis is looming
a forgotten world shrouded in legend
under a ruby sky.

Sanctuary
for those the others chose to forget.
The second element
alter ego of everyman
born and deceased.

A kindred heart - a twin soul
feeling me
knowing me
being me...

Shallow Grave

I cannot, will not, do not suffer fools gladly
especially those dolts that are not capable of recognising or realising
the plummeting depths of their own unfathomable foolishness!

It is believed that charity should begin at home, or so they say,
But, damn, when your every nerve is stretched – elasticated, broken – fragmented;
how?
How can I?

The level of superficiality camouflaged as sincerity astounds, bemuses and, yet,
I am not surprised that there are those that are drawn to them as moths to a flame;
the utter blindness confuses me –
an internal eruption, a soul quake…

I refuse to conform to their archetype – their need for acceptance
does not justify painting veneers that crumble and diminish, deteriorate and fade;
my true self independent and dignified –
an explosion of colour, a kaleidoscope of possibilities…

I believe there is not only charity in our home but love too,
Where all are accepted – embraced, whether broken or not;
how?
Because we can!

I can, will, do take delight in real people gladly,
especially those splendiferous spirits capable of recognising, realising
the insurmountable depths of their own unfathomable foolishness!

Apology Accepted

Trying to say
I am sorry
takes every fibre in my being to new levels.

I cannot fathom out
the uncontrollable hurt
and sense of loss
that
burns within me...

Sorry -
a shallow grave of vocabulary,
a sham of emotion
but how can I prove
that all I say is honest
and true,
that all I feel is what I do...

Love, caring, doldrums of hopelessness?
What acidic retort will I get in return?

Probably a shoulder of ice,
a frozen relic of the past -
ignorance and foolish pride...

Whatever you do,
I don't mind
because
at least I would have been a man...
and said I am sorry!

I'M a Bitch

I'm a bitch!
I'm a bastard!
But that is who I am
A paradox of virtues criss-crossed with elements of brokenness...

I have become what I have feared,
indifferent and disillusioned...
a man full of pain
let down by those that he thought were close
surprised by those that he thought didn't care...

The road that winds ahead is not an easy one,
the constant fear that my humanity can be changed in an instant...
a freakish second that can make or break me -
that can cause untold damage
but still I continue....

To fight and claw my way to sanity -
to be the man I want to be
but...
don't write me off yet, I will do what it takes to become me again!

I cannot - will not tolerate fools
those insipid ones that constantly want to break you down with their uselessness...

I need to surround myself with the positive light and love of those that know, care and understand -
My health depends on it!

That's What

What is the point?
To slave all day in the hope of making a difference -
a positive change in someone's dull monotonous life,
giving of myself in the event
that what I have taught
they have learnt!

What is the need?
To know about life and all its many idiosyncrasies,
its riddles, puzzles and jokes.

That is what is needed -
a solution or few,
but to get them to listen
so that I may impart
what I know and they need to!

What is the catch?
A lifetime of stress,
nervous tension and
the odd breakdown,
rare moments of joy and success,
the paradox of being
a servant and wanting to be
an educator,
a man of substance - character of strength
pillar of will - person of heart -
soul!

What is in it for me?
A sense of challenge and accomplishment,
martyrdom - maybe...
a love of teaching
a call - voices in my being driving me forward
daring me, testing me, allowing me to be...

Allowing me to be, to make, to create, to learn, to teach -
that's what!

Mirror

Placid surface
looking glass
still water

Silence but for the cries of ducks
silverfish
minuscule reflections
of an almighty orb
casting its omnipresent being
onto rippling water

Undulations
varying patterns
splintering the smoothness
heartbeats of water

Boatman
ferryman -
a carrier of souls
across Styx
deep water

A pathway to netherworlds
rough water

24 Hours

Hearts beating on a lonely drum
while birds capture the essence on their wings -
soaring to new heights
new beginnings
an era of dawn.

Pulses playing an alternative beat
harmonies reflecting in the shards of our souls -
splintering into needles of pain
an era of day.

Fingertips tracing a forgotten route
directing the mind on a journey of evolution -
a process of spiritual change
an era of dusk.

Evening is here
night has arrived -
the death of a day
of love;
peepholes in the black
only hide and hold everything back...

Paradigm Shift

What to feel?
A confused state of doubt
and exhilaration
that captivates the very core of me,
accelerating me to a level of adrenaline -
filling me with the hope
of a new horizon that dawns
just for me...

A new, fresh day
breaking the darkness
caused by disheartenment
and the disillusioning of a soul.

My heart has been taken prisoner
by excitement
and meaningfulness -
a sense of being wanted,
cared for,
sharing...

I do not wish this taste of paradise to leave me...
Let it grow into an eternal lifelong experience
that will enrich and imbue
with treasure
my life,
our lives -
I ask... I beg... I thank you...

The Dance

Sensuous caresses
down a wet back,
steam rises and falls
as breathing catches an ear -
a sigh of desire
that pulsates,
reverberates,
convulses through a body
catapulting a soul to new Heavenly heights
and takes the body to depths
never before experienced...

Impassioned kisses
leave a moist trail,
rhythms erupt and pound
into a flavour of ecstasy -
slower movements take over
hands touch
bringing the soul back
and the dance continues...
