Wintertide

the silence of the night is stirred by strong pulses
from the north that cut across the moonlit ocean
the waters shimmer and gleam like gold, as nature
begins her perpetual motion,
an increased volume of sound greets the land with the
hooting of an owl fading away into the hills replaced
by the breath of mother natures icy chills
in a lonely dwelling in a distant field the mice
they scurry across the beams to rest to the safety
of their straw clad nests
fir trees in a forest glade bow down and quiver as
the majestic force of life rises across streams and
rivers
down through the valleys, the villages and towns
the windsong continues until at last, the silence of
the night abounds, snowflakes are falling without a
sound....

Another Year

log fueled fire blazes in a hearth, throwing out intermittent shadows embellishing a darkened room a flickering candle burns through yet another Christmas eve, its light reaches out to highlight images of a family past

a silence is broken by a rocking, creaking chair that projects it's outline upon an empty wall, a victim of years gone by reminiscences of many such nights, as a wind roars around snow-filled fields outside of a bolted wooden door..

days of yesterdays

In the golden corn, the sunlit dawns
we lay in each other's arms
seen babbling brooks, the craggy nooks
In sweet Perth with all its charms.

Gone are the days of yesterdays
since my Maureen went away
the summer morns have now all gone
my Maureen could no longer stay.

We watched the sun fast sinking down
on many a glorious day
we even watched it going down
in the beautiful Dalgety Bay.

Now I find I'm all alone
gazing out to sea
I think of all the love we had
and how much you meant to me.

Gone are the days of yesterdays
since my Maureen went away
I long to kiss your sweet Irish lips
but my Maureen you could not stay.

A gentle sea breeze through my hair
creates the the sound of a sigh
It seems to feel the way I do
brings a teardrop to my eye.

I miss you more as the nights draw in
we kept each other warm
we always snuggled close together
on many a winter's morn.

Gone are the days of yesterdays
they will not come again
though the days of yesterday have gone
our love will still remain.

Gone are the days of yesterdays
the memories of our love maintained
Gone are the days of yesterdays
they will never come again...
