Because some day someone will come into your life
and offer you the world
but you
you gave me an entire universe
you took me to the moon
and we stared at the stars
you told me that stars are like people
beautiful
but sometimes they fall
sometimes they fall and you only catch a glimpse
others you don't see at all
you told me that no matter what
the stars were destined to fall
and burn up in the earths atmosphere
but people don't
they can fall and hit the asphalt
and still manage to light a spark in the world

She looks at you
Like you’re her world
She looks at you
Like you single handedly
Put all the stars in the sky
She looks at you
Like no other human being
Could ever compare to you
She looks at you
And sees her future
The things she wants to achieve
And the person she wants to be
She looks at you
And finally gets why bad things
Sometimes have to happen to good people
She looks at you
And understands why some things
Could never last
She looks at you like you’re her world
And you don’t even know.

I try to take things one day
At a time
But sometimes
Multiple days hit me all at once
It’s like getting hit by a wave
Only to find our seven more
Are right behind it
The water seems endless
And searching for ground
Seems pointless
And the waves just keep coming
Sometimes you get to ride the waves
Other times,
The waves ride you
