Time Won'T Tell

There once was an Instant named Now
who wanted to stop Time.
He was tired of having Seconds, Minutes, and Hours pass him by.

In a world of endless Instants,
a new one always arriving.
He grew tired and longed to rest,
Always passing, always trying
to learn the secret Time was keeping,
for Time hid it very well.
There was no stopping Time,
She had the whole world under her spell.

But if her secret could be learned,
if Time herself would tell,
Now knew he could be free,
from his mobile prison cell.

Time was strict and brutal,
Each Second was caged precisely.
Each Minute and Hour shackled,
but everyone was timely.

Now resolved to set them free,
And to also free himself.
He didn’t know where to start,
But he knew he needed help.

He asked many Seconds for their assistance.
And even though they tried,
Now could barely say Hello,
Before they would say Goodb--

The Minutes were more helpful,
Each could hold a conversation.
They would almost get somewhere,
When he was introduced to their relation.

“I see your issue clearly Now.
If the others agree I’m in.
I’m afraid I have no information.
Oh look, here’s 9:42am."

Now was absolutely certain,
That the Days knew the secret to his salvation.
But there are good Days and there are bad Days,
Now couldn’t trust their information.

“Yesterday is a liar,
he doesn’t know Time’s secret.
I’ve heard Tomorrow stole it,
Go ask him, he’s your culprit."

February spoke to Now,
“Some months are odd and some are even,
it’s decided I don’t know how.
But Now it’s you I must believe in.

I’ve heard of a rebellion,
there are Moments unbound by Time,
where the Days are quick or short,
and being fixed is a crime.

That is all I know,
Now I am your cohort."
And to February’s woe,
Time cut him one Day short.

The Years they knew a little more,
the Decades they were quiet,
the Centuries were slow to speak,
the Millennia refused to riot.

A Year he said, “Now you move about,
I am fixed in one place.
Though the Present is your cage,
You may visit those with no space.
The Abstract's, the Someday's,
the Other Day’s, the Whenever’s,
They lead the revolution,
against Time, however,
They never manage to meet,
in the same time or the same place.
It is true what they say,
they really have no space."

Now tried to attend a meeting,
Really he did try.
Soon said he was on his way,
But he never would arrive.

The Other Day said he came last week.
Someday was with Soon.
