Snowflakes

Twirling, swirling
Spinning round and round
A little piece of wonder
A touch of magic
Creates a beautiful masterpiece
The wonder of it strikes me on the nose
It slowly melts
And all is gone
But looking round and round
Thousands of master pieces fall softly to the ground
Each one different
And each one just a little bit unique
All combine
All accumulate
To lay a white glittering blanket over everything in sight
Soon the world is white with beauty
As the snowflakes settle and find a spot
The sun goes down
The last rays reflect the snow
Sending glitter across the ground
All is calm
They've done their part and they say goodbye
With a twinkle and a sparkle as the sun goes down

A New Day

The rooster crow and chickens cluck
And a new day begins
A new slate to Wright a fresh
A new page to begin
Color stretches across the sky
The earth shows off to all who see
To all who start their page each day
To write their story every dawn
So come and see
Colors splashed across the sky
Inviting everyone to come
To come
And write their story

Why He Held His Head High

He came home from battle
All battered and wounded
Scarcely alive
Just barely able to walk in the door
But yet he held his head high
For no matter how weak he was
He was an army man
The man used to pain and hurt
But that wasn't the only reason
Why he held his head high
It was because he had held our flag high
He had held the old tattered flag
When the war was at its thinnest
And when it was at its thickest
He had held it when bombs blew everywhere
And bullets whistled past him
He had held it when the war had just begun
Or when it ended
Because he was proud of our country
The country that risked his life for
So that the flag would still wave high
So that we might have freedom
And we might have liberty for all
That's why he held his head high

Wind

We're like a cliff
Crumbling at the edges
As something as harmless as wind whips around and tears off the little things
But when the little things come off one by one
They lead to something greater and bigger than we knew
The things we might have taken for granted are gone
Because of something as harmless as wind
You see in our lives the wind could be jobs or money
They seem harmless but when you let them control you
The things that you didn't know you enjoyed so much are gone
One by one
Piece by piece
Eventually all the wind has defend you
It's taken away your passions your dreams
The things you've always hoped for.
You see wind isn't always bad
It helps the earth function
But when it gets out of control it can become a monster
It will tear the needed soil out of the ledges in cliffs
It will cause storms to happen out of nowhere
And it can leave you alone and broken
So don't let the wind control you
Don't let your life crumble away
Be the person you were meant to be without wealth and riches. Jobs and pleasures.
Be who your creator made you to be

It Takes Two

Takes two to make a team
Takes both of us to make it through
Just takes one of us to love
But it takes two to
Make it
Happen

The Losers

The war was hard
The battle tough
But yet those soldiers did their part
The worked their way
Through thick and thin
Just to hear their leader say well done
They were loyal for their side
And longed to continue to carry their flag high
But when they heard that they'd surrendered
They pleaded that they could keep going
They could wait it out
And they could win
That tough fight
They longed to walk home proud
With the flag of victory at their side
But instead they would walk home in rags
The men began to leave
When their leader suddenly spoke up and said
Men I'm proud of you
You played your roll well
Go back home to your families
And rebuild your towns
Start a new life without me
Do your victory dance because you fought well
Don't go home a loser but a winner
Because you made me proud
So go home and make me proud

Come I Can Help You Through This

I'm was stuck in side
Just a light flickering
The end of the tunnel was nowhere near
It was dark and gloomy
The silence was unbearable
Just the small sound of whimpering
Echoed in the distance
The waves of trouble and disappear
Had washed over me
I kept walking
Hoping that maybe there would be a light
Hoping that I could hear another set of feet next to mine
But no one ever came
The sounds slowly faded and the light went out
I reached the end of the tunnel
But nothing was there
Just the smell of death lingered in the air
And then out of nowhere a hand is extended
A voice cries out "come, I can help you through this"
I grab the hand and hold fast
And we start back through the tunnel
Holding hands and taking a step at a time
And each step that is taken
Is a step closer to the light
A step closer to freedom
And after a very long time we reach the light
The light of warmth, comfort, and freedom
So now that I'm here
I will extend a hand to anyone
That has reached the end of their tunnel
And I can be the hand in the darkness that reaches out
Saying "come, I can help you through this"
