Sheridan Spence Poem
Powerful, these blitzing beams -
Scorching rays that gleam
Upon raging surf.
Collision of wave and rock -
Resounding, hissing spray:
The fireworks of the sea.
These waves halt for no one.
I am a speck...
A miniscule spot of corroded sand
Nestled within the endless shore.
But that I were a slab of stone -
Fiercely contesting the tide:
Foam and algae markers of will.
Odysseus strings his fatal bow
While I await my metamorphosis:
Where is Kafka when you need him?

Sheridan Spence Poem
How is it that this numbing tingle
Stirs from its place of idle rest at
The sight of your handsome face? Your visage?
How is it that my core hums, quakes,
With anticipation at the sound of your sigh?
Your starlit gaze upon my own orbs
Leaves no want for an enraptured mind.
How is it that I know everything
and nothing
When your thoughts meet mine?
Might you be my muse -
The equal to my soul entire?
Tell me, for I do not know how it can be so.

Sheridan Spence Poem
From my lips sweet words spill forth
Unto your reddened, velvet tongue.
Honeysuckle they would speak,
But that they perish in their infancy
As tactile sensations mesh.
No mourning succeeds to dampen
An ignited passion in such a state -
Savor the fleeting moment:
Venus and Mars’ union in celestial paradise.
With velvet against velveteen,
There is no friction,
Only completion.
Into eternity lead me,
With Cupid’s cherub gaze,
To a satiated cove of desire.
