Haunted

Why do you visit me at night, haunt me in my dreams?
You let me go, now you have to let me be.
It hurts to much to be stuck here, trapped in memories,
You let me go, now you have to let me be.

Every time I try to forget, a cryptic sign pulls me back,
I want so badly to forget you, break this bond and be free
You let me go, now you have to let me be.

I feel guilty when I realize I miss you
Why won't you let me be?
I've moved on, hit the milestones. I have a family.

Time and space, miles and years, nothing breaks this bond.
Am I crazy? Did I imagine it all? Do I have this all wrong?
Were we real? Did we happen? Have I imagined us all along?

I think back to fireworks, our first kiss, all the fights,
The first time I met you, the night you walked away.
We never would have worked. Why doesn't knowing that make it ok?

People say I'm crazy, maybe I am, that's what you've done
Why can't I move on, be here, in my now?
Why do I look for your face in every crowd? Wonder where you are? What you do? If you are thinking of me too?

In the dark of the night, when sleep simply won't come
I pray that I can forget you. Let you be, live in peace
You walked away, now you have to let me be.
You let me go, please let me be.
