We Are Never Alone

Hello.
I’m not quite sure how to do this.
You see,
I’ve been alone
For most of life.
Walked alone.
Talked alone.
Listened alone.
But,
This isn’t working.
I'm sorry.
Let me start over.

Hi.
I’ve been learning
For a long time now.
I’ve been taught to do many things.
I can curve my lips,
To make a smile.
They say I should do that.
It helps, they tell me.
But I still walk alone.
I watch alone.
I wonder alone.
But,
For some reason,
I still can’t get it right.
Let me try one more time.

…
I’ve grown up now.
I put my smile on every day.
I make sure it tilts just right.
Yet,
It seems that...
I am still alone.
But in my mind,
They are wrong.
Because I am not.
I may walk alone,
Watch alone,
But I refuse to believe them.

Inside our minds,
Everyone is alone.
But we are alone together.

I hope they notice they’re lonely too.

The Ultimate Lessons

I remember you taught me,
All the things that you knew,
All the jokes that you told,
And what a simple smile could do.

You showed me happier times,
When the world just seemed grey,
You told me to look up,
And the clouds went away.

One day I found out,
That you had to say goodbye
You assured me it wasn’t your choice,
And I couldn’t help but cry.

After you were gone,
People felt they had to fix me
From letters to cards
To even putting me in therapy.

The cards I never read,
And the letters remained unopened
I never truly saw a point,
To make my life disillusioned.

I was kicked out of therapy
For laughing too much,
Because what they told me,
Was others were much worse off.

I guess that comes down to your lessons too,
But I can’t really complain when
I had much better things to do.

Like smile and laugh
And see the world around me
Not wallow in sorrow
But see everyday’s beauty.

It’s because of you,
That I push myself hard
And it’s all your fault,
That my world remained starred.

It was your lessons that taught me,
To face the world with a grin,
Never ceasing to imagine,
The wonders within

You inspired me in life,
And even more so, in death,
Because I will always remember your lessons,
Till my last dying breath.
