Family Vacation

Once upon a happening
there was a family of four
all had different ideas
on spending vacation and more.

Dad thought it best
if they camped in the woods
to go hiking in the mountains
on a trail where they could.

Mom wanted relaxation
and to stay at a resort
go golfing on the green
and play tennis on the courts.

Big brother didn't agree
and wanted fast fun
the amusement park was his thing
where the roller coasters run.

Sister's nose turned up
at all of their wants
back to the beach and ocean
were her playful haunts.

Dad pulled the paper
straight out of the hat
to the beach they were to go
so they hurried and packed.

With the car all loaded
they were ready to go
so off they all went
with swim tubes in tow.

A few hours later
 the car started in
it clunked and clunked
and lurched and spinned.

Dad checked under the hood
then put the hood down
called the tow truck
to bring it into town.

The cabin near the woods
was were they had to stay
so they all took a hike
down the trail that day.

The very next morning
they were on their way
heading to the beach
on a nice sunny day.

Three hours driving and
the car started to churn
and do some loud jerking
as Dad soon would learn.

Dad checked under the hood
then put the hood down
called the tow truck
to bring it into town.

The hotel room near the courts
was were they had to stay
so they all played some tennis
at the resort that day.

The very next morning
they were on their way
heading to the beach
on a nice sunny day.

Five hours driving and
the car started again
the banging and clanging
was doing Dad in.

Dad checked under the hood
then put the hood down
called the tow truck
to bring it into town.

The lodge by the rides
was were they had to stay
so they all had some fun
at the amusement park that day.

The very next morning
they were on their way
heading to the beach
on a nice sunny day.

After all their trouble
they finaaly arrived
at Sis' favorite spot
bungalow number 5.

The crystal beige sand
lead straight to their door
the water beyond that
made you want more.

Things may not have gone
as they would have liked
but this family of four
still had fun in spite.

Sedona

The reds and oranges
blending high and low
melting into the ground
where the lake water flows.

Heaven must be here,
right here on Earth.
I couldn't imagine such a place
with the sun and the dirt.

My vacation slips by
quicker than I thought.
Taking with me
more peace than I had sought.

This place will live forever
in the recess' of my mind.
The sediments of Sedona,
a home I loathe to leave behind.

Werewolf

Lust for blood
when the moon is high
primitive instinct
in the wolves’ cry

The call of hunger
to everyone near
those that fall prey
hide with fear.

Whispers from the wind
swaying the trees, moving the leaves
not sure what you heard
running faster trying to flee.

The white moon growing brighter
on each tree around the loch
knowing your at the end
between the water and the rocks.

The scream can’t escape
from the throat that once was yours.
It now lies in his belly
as he rests on all fours.

You were warned never to go
into the forest around the lake
especially with the harvest moon
bringing the werewolves awake.

Sonny the Gecko

Sitting on top
of the green hill
on a flat rock
where the grass fills

Sonny the Gecko
layed very still
bathing int he sun
at the top of the hill.

Sonny was happy
to lay there all day
she heard a cry for help
interrupting her sun rays.

Where it came from
she did not know.
She heard it again
and knew she must go.

The tiny voice heard
sounded nearby.
Could it be near the hive
where the honey bees fly?

Could it be near the pond
where the frogs hop along?
Could it be near the nest
where the bluebirds sing their song?

Could it be near the river
where the fish all swim?
Could it be near the meadow
where the elephants are not slim?

Could it be near the tree
where the bears scratch their backs?
Could it be near the tall grass
where the lions like to attack?

Could it be near the forest
where the monkeys swing up high?
Could it be near the mountain
where the eagles soar to the sky?

Oh where is it coming from?
I must know now.
I can't wait any longer.
How upsetting, oh how.

Just then she heard
from right below her
the small voice from before
of that she was sure.

The helpless voice
sounded again
the pleas for help
so Sonny began.

She went to all the places
she thought the cries had come
but left them all sad
and went on home.

Back on the rock
Sonny sat thinking
all about the thing
she was to be helping.

She knows she heard it
plain as day
then she heard it again
saying "I want to play."

Sonny looked down
right between her feet.
There stood a small mouse
holding up treats.

"Help me up." cried the mouse
"I'm too small to climb."
So Sonny reached down
how was she so blind.

"I've been looking for help
so I won't be stuck
to get on this big rock
and now I'm in luck."

Together they sat
on the rock in the sun
eating cookies and sweets
and having some fun.

What a wonderful day
it turned out to be
for a small field mouse
and a gecko named Sonny.

Piper Gets Lost

Piper’s day started same as the rest.
At breakfast time she made a big mess.

What’s going on? I feel very energetic.
My paws keep moving but I can not let it.

She sees the girl heading out of the door.
It is there wide open so Piper ran across the floor.

Piper ran outside between the girl’s feet.
The air smelled so fresh that Piper rushed to the street.

Sniffing the air then looking both ways
Piper crossed the road enjoying her dog days.

Soon the clouds moved in but Piper ‘s nose was to the ground.
The rain started pouring as she smelled her way around.

Further and further she went into town.
Til she came to the park where the grass had turned brown.

Her paws were wet and she started tog et cold.
She thought, “It’s time to go back before a flu takes hold.”

With paws all muddy she made it tot he street.
Her tummy was rumbling and she needed to eat.

She looked around but knew nothing around her.
She had to find home to eat and dry her fur.

Piper sniffed and sniffed but the air told her nothing.
Not how to get home or what might be coming.

This wasn’t good. Piper started to get scared.
She should never have run out of the house unprepared.

She missed the little girl. She wanted to go home.
She shivered and cried feeling all alone.
She walked down one street then turned down the next.
This town was too big, noisy and complex.

Piper dodged a car, weaving back and forth
to get across the street and head straight north.

From out of the blue she heard a call.
It was her own name but it sounded so small.

The little girl yelled as loud as she could.
She tried to whistle from where she stood.

Piper’s hopes came true when she looked down the street.
There was her little girl. Oh how wonderful, how sweet!

She ran and ran til her legs could go no more.
She jumped into her arms and was done with her explore.

The best place to be is right at home.
Where it’s safe and warm and no need to roam.

THE END

Psych 101

These walls don’t hold up
to the pain placed inside
looking for hope and futures
but the caring and trust collide.

Memories fold at the sight
of the cross with winding snakes
bogged is the mind at rest
where the people are at stake.

Lithium drives home the thought
of how easy it all is
to live out a fantasy of two worlds
in which one will have to give.

Fragile we are to those who know best
but strong to those who don’t
your thoughts are put down with ink
in hopes no one sees what you wrote.

Please don’t judge by what you see
or even what you hear
when you walk inside these four walls
it will all be very clear.

When He Comes Home

She leaned out with quiet
looking at the stars
the window sill cold
the air barely alive
her dreams are of him
the one who makes her whole
her prayer for the night
are of him coming home
everyday her feet take her
to the front door
ready to open it
for him once more
no one is there
he didn't come home
how long will she wait
her life is going on
without him
and it hurts so she prays
and she's hopeful and
will love him just the same
today is the day
she can feel it
she opens the door and he is there
they're arms wrap around
kisses are flying
tears are streaming
she doesn't care because
he is Daddy and she's only 5.

Truth

I use facts to find the truth.
But not all facts are true.

Piper Gets a Home

Once upon a time
there was a pup named Piper.
She was being adopted
and hoped her family would like her.

The little girl squealed
when she saw the small pup
Piper’s eyes got big
when the girl scooped her up.

In her new house
Piper looked around
She saw a bowl, a bone
and a toy on the ground.

She sniffed the air
and what a sweet smell.
In the kitchen mom was cooking
it was stew, she could tell.

Mmm Mmm Mmm
how Piper loved to eat stew
and into the kitchen
so fast Piper flew.

With one giant leap
she was on top of the counter.
The cat next to her hissed
and sauntered around her.

She was almost in reach.
She was almost there.
One unfortunate step
and the stew flew in the air.

Down went the pot
with a clang on the floor.
The cat jumped to the window
and Piper to the door.

When the door swung open,
Piper came to a halt.
The girl looked down at the pup
with no blame or no fault.

She picked up her puppy
and walked to the cat.
“You’re a bad little kitty
to make a mess like that.”

The cat looked at the girl
with his eyes open wide.
Then he looked at his enemy
she held by her side.

“I will get you.” he thought
as she walked from the room.
The pup just smiled
and stuck out her tongue.

Pretty Picture

What a pretty picture I have
for all the world to see.
It’s painted black and blue
and the gray part, that’s me.

Every color that is chosen
blend well with one another
and when I get upset
red overrides the others.

No one sees the real me
No one knows me for myself.
When I come to them for help
they put the problem on a shelf.

The people that I hurt,
the people I push away,
the ones I put my trust in
are the ones that betray.

I feel there is no help
for my family or for me
to save us from this selfish world
of greed and misery.

On the chance I have a good day
when things seem happy and full of light
they next day becomes too loud
and the light way too bright.

When can I stop feeling this way?
When can I just be normal?
When can my like go like the rest
with ‘business as usual’?

The things I say, the things I do
are NOT sugar coated.
The hurtful words used against me
are totally misquoted.

So the picture painted is not truly me
but a figment of my imagination,
to make you believe I live just like you
and not in the world of damnation.
