Hurting

HURTING

He hit me again and this time I couldn't stop it,
The last time he did it he promised he wouldn't do it again,
So I believed him.

Last night he choked me,
I could feel my breathe slip out slowly,
I guess he stopped when he saw my eyes gorged out,
I couldn't stop it.

Today morning he ripped my dress off,
I could feel him thrust himself in and out as he beat the out of me in between breaks,
I couldn't stop it.

Am helpless, weak, terrified,
Am afraid that my son will wake up to my lifeless body,
Am stuck, I can't stop it

Gratitude

Some weeks ago I met a guy,
And it's not the typical love at first sight,
But it the kind if guy that puts a smile on my face,
The kind that I would wait for all day and night when he's busy,
Just for that phone call, or a text from him,
The kind that gives me a reason to look forward to.

Words can't begin to describe how incredible he is,
Kind, patient, forgiving, enduring, amazing,charming,
Stubborn, understanding, prayerful, caring, compassionate,
The list is endless but I know you have the kind of love,
That surpasses everything and a heart full of gratitude and,
A soul of a thousand warriors coz you can fight any battle.

He should know that he has someone who has his back,
And though not everything can be perfect,
You have one thing that you can count on,
Coz sweetie you deserve the best things in life,
And I just want to say that am grateful to you,
For being you, for being sweet, for being positive, and for being there for me.

Stupid Love

STUPID LOVE
Am just sick of all of it,
The lying,the cheating,
It's just too much,
I could say I wish I knew,
But the truth is I saw the signs,
I even read between lines,
And yet here I am.
It's true;love can turn you into a stupid person.

It's been what now?
Two months and am still holding on,
If you ask , I don't know what am doing,
Am hurting but am still here,
Clearly there is nothing to fight for,
Am stuck in emotions that I can't control,
These are mixed feelings,
It's true; love can turn you into a stupid person.

You said you loved me,
We were going to build a family with our son,
We were happy until she came,
Then the lying began,
You turned me into a paranoid, insecure person,
Then you made me think I was crazy,
Huh! Turning tables on me; classic,
It's true; love can turn you into a stupid person.

Am learning to accept the facts,
To let go without hating you and myself,
To focus on our baby and me,
Letting things fall into place,
Loving you less everyday,
Because I wasn't just enough for you,
This is a stab through my heart, pain that's part of the cycle of love,
It's true ; love can turn you into a stupid person.

Night Gone Crazy

NIGHT GONE CRAZY
It started with small talk,
Went to a call here and there,
‘Would you mind lunch’, he said
A few lunches would do no harm,
Besides a girl has to eat.

She’s down to the second drink,
This being their third date,
She’s now at ease and having a good time,
Even warming up to him,
It seems like this is going to be an uneventful night.

At least that’s what she thought,
Until she saw her walk in,
Agitated, eyes popping out with rage,
Through the candle lit room that’s what she could see,
No one is going to ruin my dress, she thinks.

Since she has been in such a situation before, she dashes out,
Looking behind she can see both of them coming after her,
She increases her pace, they do the same,
Luck not being on her side she trips and falls,
They are standing over her.

She can hear hysterical laughs,
She squints her eyes to get a closer look,
‘You should have seen yourself the way you took off’
‘Damn girl I almost broke my legs,’ she says
It was only her crazy friend and boyfriend.

She walks back to the restaurant really embarrassed,
‘I’m sorry could we just get out of here?
This night has been a mess, ‘she says
‘I don’t agree, at least I saw you take off in heels,
But you shouldn’t worry, I only want to dine and go out with you,’ he whispers

A Letter To My Best Friend

A LETTER TO MY BEST FRIEND

When I first moved here I was totally excited,
Finally we were going to be in same town again,
After years of being apart and our friendship being distant,
Fate had done us justice, I thought.

And as luck would have we landed a job in the same company,
And it was fun and amazing and everything I had thought,
Am not denying that we had the small fights but we resolved them,
Life was great 'coz for once things were going how I wanted.

Then somewhere along the way things started falling apart,
We no longer had the same ideals in life, the same thoughts,
So I thought to myself that it's what happens to friends,
We'll get back on track, I was optimistic.

But instead you started blaming me for everything wrong that happened,
You forgot so soon how I had your back 'coz you were like a sister,
You became distant and stopped sharing whatever happened in your life,
I became a villain, even though I still lied for you, loved you and never
broke the sister code.

I took it all in, the emotional tussle became too much,
I didn't break down 'coz well be both know I don't,
But it sucked to lose you because after all this year's
I never thought you'd leave me for another,
Or that you'd break our code.

I guess that's what happens after a while,
I'll miss you though, maybe moving is best thing,
For both of us.

Just Like

What I feel for you is intense, profound, strong, immeasurable, indescribable, and unexplainable
And just like every cliché love story,
I’d give up everything for you,
I’d swallow every bit of pride just to apologize for something you did,
I’d lie if I said I’d die without you but
Truth is I’d be a mess having to face life alone.

And just like every beautiful word that has come out of your mouth
Every time you speak,
You are magical,
You are amazing,
You are impeccable,
You are magnificent,
You are charming,
You are out of this world.

I know that we don’t believe in the unrealistic of fairy tales and soap operas
But I know that we believe in us,
And just like all the love quotes since time immemorial,
We are stronger together,
We are a great team,
We are a family.

And just like every moment we’ve had,
With you everything is simple,
With you life is beautiful,
With you we can conquer the world,
With you raising our son is a piece of cake,
And it’s with you that I fell in love.
