Procrastination--High School

Two days before the test I sat enthralled;
My novel was for pleasure, not the test.
I had two days, why should I study yet?
With just three chapters left, I’d read the rest.
I put it off, and read the next day too,
Avoiding thoughts that said it was not right.
But when I went to school next day I found
I failed because of how I’d spent my night.
The next test came, and I was well prepared;
I did not read, instead I studied well.
I made it my priority to learn,
And when I did, I found I could excel.
Work hard, prioritize, and see it through,
Be diligent in everything you do.

Psalm 139 Versification

O Lord, you search me and you know
Whene’er I stay or go,
Perceive my thoughts from far away
And guard me every day.

Before I plan to say a word,
You know it all, O Lord,
For all my days you planned for me,
Before one came to be.

If I could rise on wings of dawn,
Or hide where no man’s gone,
Yet even there your hand would be,
 To guide and comfort me.

If I say, “darkness covers me,
And nothing God can see,”
Yet even dark is light to you,
And hides not what I do.

My God, O search and know my heart,
Cleanse every sinful part,
And lead me closer every day
To you, the only Way.

A Wife of Noble Character

A wife of noble character,
Is guerdon from the hand of God.
She works all day with eager hands,
Invests herself in every job.

She is not proud but full of love
And helps the hungry and the weak.
Her husband has full faith in her;
Of her, her children highly speak.

She speaks with wisdom, faith, and love,
And faithfulness receives reward
The gilt of beauty fades away,
But praised is she who fears the Lord.

Isaiah 58 Versification

Lift up your voice and shout it out,
Declare my people’s sin.
Tell Israel her doom is near;
Soon judgment shall begin.

You think that I will see your works,
I see the heart instead.
In arrogant self-righteousness
Its offerings are dead.

But this is what I choose for you:
To comfort those distressed,
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
And free all those oppressed.

Give them your hands; give me your heart,
Sincere in all you do.
Then you shall take delight in me
And I delight in you.
