Welcome To the Jungle

Welcome to the jungle, where you might not wake up the next day,
Where your best friend just bought the farm, courtesy of a friendly mortar gone astray,
And where Charlie's ghosts, come out to play.

Welcome to the jungle, your innocence won't stay,
In a bath of blood, it'll be washed away,
While for the sins of some foreigner you pay.

Welcome to the jungle, where disease will eat you away,
And the bush grows thick, despite the chemicals they spray.

Farewell to the jungle, you barely lasted a day,
Just another body that they tossed into the fray,
And now your body rots in this country,
Far, far away.

Homecoming

As I took those first few steps off the plane, I felt something in my chest cringe in pain. When I set foot on the tarmac, I realized that what I saw was a car wreck of the nation that I had been fighting for. Looking around, I realized that these people I had been fighting to protect, were no better than the enemy. They waved their signs, they called me names, they mocked my trial in flames. they said I went and fought for the rich mans gain. it was wondrous to me how much the world seemed to have changed. Where once they would have welcomed me home with open arms, they instead mocked and scorned. but still a sliver of hope remained. As I shifted my gaze towards others in the crowd, I saw old glory wave. There stood true Americans, who understood that I went over there for you. So go ahead and call me names, insult me and my family name! you may think that you've hurt me, but to those that matter, I've just gone down in the hall of fame.

I Wade Through the Darkness

I wade through the darkness,
I can't find my way home,
Far away from the rest of the world,
I feel so very alone.

I walk a little further,
I cut my feet on stone,
For how many more sins, must I atone?
Defeat is much more bitter,
When you suffer through it alone.

Still no sign of daylight,
It's the dark before the dawn,
I wonder if this is some nightmare,
As I mindlessly trudge on.

Further still I wander,
For courage now I pray,
and blindly stumble onward,
Towards the break of day.

Left Versus Right

I didn't mean for it to come to this, for us to have this awful fight,
But I guess that neither one of us, had ever really seen eye to eye.
'Cause you lean too far left, and I lean too far right,
It seems like a stupid reason really, to have such a fight.
But I guess now, that before this argument reaches new heights,
I'll leave you now, say my goodbyes, and wish you one last goodnight.
