Evening

another day passes
light fading
darkness slowly
pushing the last rays
beyond the orbs curve
and night arrives
unchallenged

warmth and heat
remain
undminished
yet longly lingering
sightless shimmering
absent the sun
disappeared

a lightly blowing
breeze gently
stirs the grass
the leaves
passing without
judgement or
comment

appearing in reverse
tomorrow
will come
old or new
repeated ritual
does what it does
as is replaces was

Wind Songs

a strong breeze
and the leaves
of these trees
begin speaking
sing in gentle voice
for the choice
is not theirs
    the wind

moved and strummed
fingered and thumbed
by the invisible source
their movements endorse
nature's improvised tune
theirs not to invent
    the wind

the tall stately pines
add their own lines
with a whoosh
and a swoosh
as they sway
and they play
in counterpoint
    the wind

the symphony's soft
the sounds from aloft
but ears that hear
aural and clear
the phrases within
unknown melodies
freshly made songs
    the wind

Time Halted

no movement
         on its face
             time
            halted

reflection contemplation
      memories hope
      wishes desires
 relaxation nothingness
accelerated perceptions
          whatever

         thank you
these extra unmeasured
          moments
           before
     the hands move

   the pulse continues
          endless
         together
        until mine
         doesn't

Forest

quiet green
sun spread shasde
a canopy of
splendorous
tall trees
height and girth
worth their years
leaves sparkling
with the last
wet brilliant
gems of morning dew

passing through
this earthly temple
only marked
by nature's hand
i am silently
touched and changed
by the magic
and the beauty
of this singular
moment

Dawn

darkness lightens
rays beams of faint
distant light
illuminate the horizon
in views less dim

emerging anew
the paints of the gods
reflect their color tinged
passion for another day
bright beautiful

and with it
hope clean and oure
dreams of greater things
and the sky
looks down
smiling

Repetizione Al Fine

Another morn
The same but different
First notes, forlorn
Scales, arpeggios drift
In mundane form
Music yet unborn
Repetition of hopes
Dreams remembrance
Escape my horn
Unbound free
The same but different

Another time
Of yesterdays todays
Tomorrows
The same but different
Like life
Like death
The one we know
The other not
Yet
The same but different

New music
Myriad images
Emotion thought feelings
Escape briefly heard
Short Lived
The same but different
Born of breath
Died for naught
Descending scale
Falling third
Silence
The same but different

Today I sing
As yesterday
And tomorrow will repeat
The same but different
New yet old
Old but new complete
The same but different
Time within time
Measured unmeasured
Free inevitable
The same but different

And now I finish
Maybe later but certainly
Tomorrow to return
The same but differently
Final notes die with the breath
No sound remains
Internally heard still there
Floating on hidden air
Resonant replete
The same but differently

An unending line
The same but different
A circle seeking
Knows not its begin
Nor its end
The same but different
Life death music
Dance in rhythm
Coupled
Tandem continuum
In time
The same but differently

Just

words

not quite seen
not quite heard
freely floating
drifting aimlessly
beyond a misty screen
directionless unmotivated
in collective solitude

       until

an unprovoked spark
undirected unknowingly
seeks grasps
their trailing tendrils
orders and thrusts them
conjoined in breathless
wonder into something

         more

Infinity

time
     moves ever
          on
   from or toward
     and briefly
         visits
          at

    knows not its
         power
   cares not the hour
     then or now or
          when
      was is or will

     does not itself
        measure
     on the unseen
          clock
    no hands define
       its passage
         invisible

      unchallenged
       in its path
       unfettered
     on it's journey
        marching
the drummer knows not
          where
        inevitable

Night

t'is dark
no city lights
the stars
twinkle sparkle
so bright
send their beams
into the night

clean and clear
the vision
passing shadows
of clouds
transparent opaque
so close so near

one sudden flare
of brilliant movement
captures my eye
flashes 'cross the sky
and i was there
to see it die

such wndrous beauty
steals my breath
quickens my pulse
captivates my soul
and for this small part
time forgets death

Morning

in subtle tones
o ancient colors
gentle pastel hues
creep 'cross the sky
bringing warmth
wisps and tentacles
stretching forth
waking the day
sharing the space
midst receding stars
releasing the darkness
lighting the way
awakening silent
sleeping spirits
