Motherless Child

You walk around without a clue
The memories you've missed, have also missed you
Yet you keep on going without looking left or right
The big picture is nowhere in sight
You continuously repeat the cycle
I had to release myself from you.

I completely understand the life you were faced
But I don't agree with the decisions you've made
After I gave birth my whole life changed
I had to cleanse myself from myself
Build a whole new me
In order to instill myself in my new found legacy
See, my offspring will know their bearer
Not just of her, but the full her… with error
I will teach lessons and hold lectures in order to guide my two
I will walk beside them with the voice of reason, all the way through
I learned without being taught the lesson of what truly matters.

Now I will pass down my wisdom to make others happier
Thank you for the lessons your absence taught me
It pushed me to be the best me I could be… for me
Not to say that I don’t hold a sense of resentment
I try my hardest to fight it
A constant battle inside
What’s completely wrong and what seems to be right
A war within that is inescapable yet is becoming more bearable
The truths of the most ugliest and most terrible
Reveal the honesty of what is pure
The essence of life is being explained
The Essence of life could be my cure.

Torn Between Two

I remember wearing my long sleeved, pink, fleece footsie jammies
We walked to the Fiesta on Fulton and Quitman.

I can recall waiting in front of the quinceañera place to cross the street
It was bright and sunny.

I could feel the heat under my feet
I didn't like that,
I looked up at her.

I missed him.

I remember the MAN who was going to take his place as it appeared
I was just getting to know the other man, had only been two years.

They would tease that I could call HIM the same name
Helped me to mimic them as they called his name.

I knew HIM a couple of days
HE had a cat,
I liked that cat.

I missed him.

I remember at night it was dark
I wanted to lay next to her.

I would cry a silent cry
I wanted her to hold me and caress my hair.

She slept behind a closed door with HIM
I laid on the coach staring at the door,
I don’t remember sleeping.

I missed him.

I remember the day he came
My arms extended out to him as I called his name!

I sat in the exact same spot as everyday
At an angle, where I could see everything.

I could see inside the closed door
He went straight to her.

Screams, yells, loud noises, cries
He picked me up and we left, good-bye.

I missed him and now he was here
I laid my chin down on this shoulder as l looked back,
She stayed with HIM.

I missed her.
