Memories of a Zimbabwean Childhood

Long ago,the guinea fowls congregated
Clourfully and innumerably
And sang sweet songs
And played in the savanah
They sang for the for the antelopes
To leap and dance in the beautiful grass lands
 The farm boys listened and danced too
And their hearts were merry

At night around the fire the folk tales were interesting;
The wild dogs barked ;
The nightjars called peacefully;
The owls clamorous,booming hoot was heard
The starry fireflies flashed in courtship elaborate dances

But the conflagrations came
And swept across the grass lands and bushvelds
The axemen were merciless ;
And by their millions the trees were severed
The poachers were ruthless
And the animals wild knew not more peace
The guinea fowls were poisoned
The nature loving farm boys beheld
All this chapter in heavy hearted silence
The guinea folws and other song birds
Shall never sing again
And the times shall never be better again.

Remember Me

When you look at the hills faraway at sunset,think of me:
I am the black flock of birds that disappears into the horizon;
 I am the beautful golden sunset that touches your heart;
I am the wind that blows towards the hills;
And I am the dark house upon the dark hills;
I am the old grave that lie silently in the dark moist forest,
FORGOTEN FOREVER

Dearest To My Heart

I give a sigh for I miss you

The arrow of your love sticks through my heart still
Seeing how much we adored each other my Juliet,
I am suprised not
Till the day I breath my last,you shall be of my heart
Thats why you must wait:the uplifter of my soul
Igniter of the cord of my happiness true
I am sorry,I am so sorry my love
Beyond my power it was
And on you walk out I never did
There were the winds
Of change insurmountable
That   along blew me
 There is none like you here
We I dwell in a land strange.
Precious,Precious are you waiting still?
