Strength

To apologize
You must be strong, but even
Stronger to forgive

There For Me

Not too many years ago
You became an older brother.
But I wouldn't know how it felt,
To become one so suddenly.

Because I was always your little sister
Because I was always content
Because even though I could do nothing for you
You were always there for me.

You helped me with my homework
you taught me to play games
You bought me birthday presents
You led me to explore.

And as I grew older,
You guided me through life
You were there when I cried
You told me that everything would be OK.

You told me that I was pretty,
You told me that I was smart.
You told me that whatever other kids said
I would always be your little sister.

And no matter what happened,
You were always there when I needed you
No matter that I could do nothing for you
You were always there for me.

But Brother, now you're leaving me
You're gone for 8 whole months a year.
And now I've got no one to go to
Who can help me when no one else can.

You've found a new girl in your life
Who can make you laugh like I can't
For who needs a little sister
who can do nothing for you?

You don't know Brother,
And you're lucky that you don't.
That I need you so much more
Than you seem to need me.

I'm watching you walk
Away from me brother.
I'm trapped here by time
But what wouldn't I give to know.

Are you crying like I am?
Have you ever needed me?
Or am I just a burden that,
As an older brother,

You could never escape from,
Could only stay there
And shoulder it
Quietly.

An Empty Pit

Don’t lose sight of your Future,
For looking into your Past.
For if you finally lose yourself
It’s a pit from never to rise

When eyes are clouded with nothing
but what could have been
While falling forward into a foggy future
Dreaming is in vain

Teetering on the edge,
Looking down into the depths.
Thinking how much harder it is
To hang on than to simply let go.

Rise!
Don’t plunge into the darkness!
Don’t lose yourself in your woes!
For if you finally lose yourself
It’s a pit from never to rise
