It Is All Because of You

just you, you once again roam in my mind.
I called you father everyday only because I could.
but now let me see if you still remember,

I was only 9 years, so defenceless and tender,
you called me names and yelled so loud that I couldn't hear myself think,
you told me that you never wanted to see me again,
it is all because of you that today I don't have a father.

It is all because of you that my brother went to jail.
what kind of a father would abandon their child on the street?
it was all because of you that my sister fell pregnant,
she was only 14 and you never paid her school fees.

I still remember the days you would live me for days without food.
I had to learn how to become a chef,
and every time I look at those scares I burnt myself hate rules all over me.
it is all because of you that I found solace in a pen and a paper.

just as I write this down, I am not afraid to say "it is all because of you that
my brother found solace in art,
I never understood the reason why his art always had the statement,
' I blame my father!', but now I know why.

It is all because of you that my sister found solace in music,
when her tears shot down like bullets, the pain penetrated in my heart,
I could feel my little heart bleeding, every time she sang because her voice was filled with sorrow.

let me not blame you much,
but it was all because of you that my mother always wept.
she failed to pull up a smile on her face.
it is all because of you that day that I fell in love with poet.

THAT MAKES IT THE ONLY ARWARD I CAN GIVE TO YOU.
since now that my brother loves art, my sister love singing,
that my mother is always happy and I am still proud to be her defenceless soul.
it is all because of you that we all learnt how to move on.

Examinations

it was the most freakiest silence today at school.
it was so quite in a way that the silence echoed back and forth in classes.
I could hear my heart beat so loud from that thick flesh of mine.
At that moment I knew that it was examinations.

From that moment I knew that I had to aim for a distinction.
I could hear a lot of breathes in class,
most of them filled with panic and fear,
At that moment I knew that it was examinations.

I could hear the hands of the clock going 'tick tock',
from the wrist watches that my classmates wore, everyone had to manage their time
At that moment I new it was examinations.

the silence was so disturbing,
even a deaf person could hear a pin drop.
so quiet that you could hear the wind's warm greetings.
OH! it was examination.

every one playing different notes with their calculators producing no answer at all,
I knew that it was Mathematics playing with those little brains.
AND at that moment I knew that it was examinations

I Cry

I cry because I can,
for I know that I can not handle the pain,
I cry because of you,
while believing that the tears will wipe away all my pain.
it is all because of you that I grew anger,
you made me learn not to forgive,
but it was worse when I lost all the trust I had for you.
I cry because of your lies,
the number of times you disappointed me are uncountable.
I cry everyday more than I did yesterday.
it is all because of you that my heart can never heal.
night never goes by, I have learnt to put my self to sleep in that bed of tears.
I cry now more than I did yesterday and it is unforgivable.
I cry because I can.

Hopeless Creature

It was in the cold and hallow nights,
you left it for dead just in the hands of the beasts of the earth, and departed with the wind and vanished into thin air like dust.
What kind of a creature must I call you?

The cold winds cutting through the infants gentle skin,
crying so loud for its mother to come and keep it warm,
trying to brush off the winds from its face.
Such a hopeless creature, left for dead in the hands of this cruel world.

Oh my, oh my, what should I call you woman?
pulling up a face of innocence and purity,
while not afraid to take down your clothes and explore the world of adultery,
yet you run away from your responsibilities.

you always knew that this day would come,
Yet you decided to carry that burden 9 months in your womb.
Avoiding you duties as teenager and becoming a mother,
only to leave that pure soul unattended to in crying for care.

from a distance I watched every move,
lying the baby down to rest as if you were to come back for it,
turning your back away and running away from your duties,
at that hour I knew what a heartless soul you are.

Dear Stranger

I could have never asked for more.
just happiness
and an endless smile on your face.
you bring out the best in me.

though i wish you knew.
but i have never got the courage to tell you.
dear stranger i love you
and I pray that your smile never fades away.
because it keeps mine alive.
and a little giddy and crazy do i become at most times.

dear stranger you need to know it all.
that my feelings for you are natural
and love is something that i cannot hide.

Lost Without a Purpose

searching for my purpose,
what i want to be,
whom i want to be.
this is all i have been doin for a while,
but my fears come hunting me,
i feel like i am pacing back to where i started,
lost in the darkness,
the dark cloud covers me,
and the merciless winds chase after me,
i am lost in the wilderness of my purpose,
for i do not know what my purpose is.

You Changed Me

you came as a friend,
just like every other friend,
you comforted me.
you changed me and I am overwhelmed.

you deserve a token of thanks,
you made me able to speak my mind.
the fear of being hurt drifted away for good,
you changed me and I am overwhelmed.

when everyone was willing to reject me,
you took me by both hands.
kept me warm during the night,
you changed me and I an overwhelmed.

you thought me how to forgive,
you made me learn how to laugh.
just a little smile was all I ever needed,
but you gave me one from ear to ear.

when the world seemed so dark,
you were my little lamp of faith.
you made me see that tomorrow will never be like today and yesterday,
you changed me and I am overwhelmed
