Rebecca Vitale Poem
My hearts beats
heavy in my chest,
As steady as
the tapping of your foot
on the linoleum.
The dripping faucet,
the ticking clock,
the bubbling coffee maker.
Only in silence
does noise grow loudest to the ears.
My very own movements
feel foreign and unnatural,
As disassociated as you in my kitchen.

Rebecca Vitale Poem
the devil and I,
We like to play games.
Deceptions the rule,
The tactic is hate.
Our set of morals,
They stray from tradition,
People are jokes,
Drowning in religion.
Pain is a virtue,
And worship's a sin.
I'm fighting a battle
I know I can't win.
But nonetheless,
I dance around lies,
As we play games,
The devil and I.

Rebecca Vitale Poem
Teddy bears, sippy cups
Mindless sex, drinking up
Hide and seek, wood tree houses
Popping pills, the sweet distractions
Peek a boo, making art
Bitten nails and lined up scars
Fifty cent lemonade
Crying eyes and hands that shake
Teddy bears, sippy cups
Here's to finally growing up

Rebecca Vitale Poem
My love for you
May have been
Desperate
And
Suffocating
But boy,
Was it worth
The pain

Rebecca Vitale Poem
drunk off the pain
High off the lies
A breath of relief
As you scar up your thighs
Always give
Don't ever take
Live in a world
You, yourself, make
Emotionally gone
Physically here
Hoping that death
Will soon be near
To kiss your lips
One last time
Drunk off the pain
High off the lies

Rebecca Vitale Poem
I can't believe you looked
Into the empty cave of my soul
And saw something there
For it has been too long
Since my numbness was stripped bare
In a moment
Of honest analization
And my feelings became
Known to another.

Rebecca Vitale Poem
You affected me in a way
easily compared
to the tapping of a vein
Quickly,
without hesitation
Waiting for the steady stream
of blood
you knew would come
Except you didn't tap a vein,
you tapped my heart
And received
my love
instead.

Rebecca Vitale Poem
How is it
You were completely unaware
That the innocence that laced
The edge of my being was
Brutally unraveled
each time you spoke my name?
Why is it
that the feelings that were
reserved
for you never found their way
across my lips to caress you
as they should have?
When was it that I
finally succumbed
to my inevitable truth?
That as I long for you,
You course through her
Because I never learned
to fight for
what I wanted.
How can it be that
though I tried,
I was never the one
who lit you up like
July fireworks
and
I was nothing more to you
than the whisper of a friendship
that had no meaning.
