Spring Forward 2

There once was a seed in the ground
Waiting for Spring to come around
Her patience gave way
Came up anyway
Now she is frozen to the ground

How You Make the Stars Hush

There is something about
The way you face your day
With a heart of gold
And such a giving way.

There is something about
The way you endure your pain
As if the stroke
Didn’t harm your brain

There is something about
The life you live
Loving like there will be no tomorrow
And living to forgive

There is something about
The brother you are
And the son you have been
That makes us more proud by far

It is everything about
The garden you grow
With sweat and tears
As the fruits to others you bestow

It is everything about
A body half paralyzed
That can produce gifts of woodwork
That leaves us mesmerized.

It is everything about
Your speech so limited
Yet communication
For you is unlimited.

It is everything about
Your inner soul
That has inspired me
To be so much more

It is you my brother
In all that you do
That have made the stars
Hush for me too.

I have been blessed to have such a brother

Angel In Disguise

Her hands are pained and twisted
Her eyes almost blind
Her feet burning and crippled
Yet she still has some of her mind.

She use to be so lively
And loving all the time
Caring for her family
And saving every dime

She would work in her garden
To feed us all year round
Giving us all a pardon
And never making a sound

The clothes we wore
Her hands did sew
Filling every drawer
Never letting us go without, even if what she had was few

The beautiful smile upon her face
Would brighten any room
Like flowers in a vase
She would take away the gloom

Her life she spent giving love
To all that crossed her path
Putting everyone else above
Even if they were filled with wrath

But now her body is failing
And it is hard to even move
There are times she should be wailing
Yet she still has something to prove

Her hands are pained and twisted
Her eyes almost blind
Her feet burning and crippled
Yet she still loves all mankind

And when you gaze into her eyes
And see her heart you realize
She is more than just a mother in our lives
She is an angel is disguise.

My Angel of Life

Not so many years ago, as I lay curled in my sheets
Drifting to that pleasant place, when you are really not asleep
I felt a movement in my bed as if a presence did creep
Wondering what it was, but awake I could not reach
Then this presence held me up, and in their arms, wrapped me so complete.
Remembering that feeling and how it felt so sweet.
The next thing I remember is another presence there
Squeezing tight upon my chest and taking me somewhere.
I couldn’t breath, I couldn’t scream, I couldn’t even fight
The pain wrenching through my body causing him delight.
And then the fight was over and as the dark presence left
I felt my angel release me, touching softly on my head
Leaning over to whisper, everything will be alright.
The angel of life saved me on that oh so scary night.

Christians

On this night before Christmas
As I sit here alone
Thinking of Jesus
And all at his throne

I bow my head silently
And pray just to you
Lord Jesus your help
Is needed it is true.

There are people who think
Our Faith is not true
And want me to stop
Believing in you.

They push and they shove
Their beliefs down on us
Making laws that remove you
From schools and such

They say there is no place
For you in this world
And if we believe
Then we have all been fooled

They have made it illegal
To say even your name
In schools, at work
Or even a game.

The faith of all others
Is fine they have said
But Christian Religion
They want to be dead.

This country was built
On Christian belief
And most arrived here
To get some relief

So now it is said
That saying your name
Offends those that don’t
Believe in the same.

Your life you have spent
Delivering this word
Will not go unnoticed
Even if they could

You died on the cross
You died for our sins
We’ll stand up for you Jesus
It’s time to begin

As Christians we’ll unite
We know what to do
We’ll stand ready to fight
To believe in you

We won’t be ashamed
We won’t hide your name
This Christian belief
Is not just a game

Lord Jesus the strength
We know comes from you
And proudly we stand
For we know you are true.
Amen

The Cat and the Rat

There once was Princess the cat
Who found a big fat hairy rat
She brought it in to play
But mother said no way
And found her a very big metal bat

The Hands of Our Parents

The hands of our parents are wrinkled and worn,
Tell a story of the years each of us were born.

A life full of giving, caring, and work
Yet the knowledge they hold could each fill a book.

The children they have raised and loved thru the years
Dan, Sandy, Linda, Janet and Stan all have brought cheers.

All 16 Grandchildren have been loved, held and rocked
By the hands of our parents, welcoming them to their flock.

The 29 Great Grandchildren have brought them such joys
To the strong hands of our parents that even made toys.

So each wrinkle and brown spot they so proudly wear
Tells a story of history they have been here to bear.

The hands of our parents show the love of us all
And every wrinkle they wear proud and tall.

Cherished Memories

I cherish every moment
I spend with you today.

I cherish every memory
You have given along the way.

I cherish every story
Even the ones you shouldn’t say.

I cherish every tear you cry
As you remember the good ole days.

I cherish every step you take
As you stumble and make your way.

I cherish every sacrifice
You’ve made for us today.

And when God says your time is up
And in heaven you will stay

I’ll remember all these moments,
I’ll remember every day.

I’ll remember all the stories,
I’ll remember what you say.

I’ll remember what you sacrificed,
To be with us today.

Saving Daylight

I guess it is almost that time of year
When we head to our clocks and move the gear.

In the spring it is forward we will hear
And I will lose an hour of sleep I fear.

In the fall it's set them back an hour
To give us more sun to devour.

They call this Daylight Savings Time
Yet do we ever really save a dime?

Better use of daylight they say
Yet at the office till dark I stay.

Saving daylight for some it may be
Saving daylight for me I don’t see.

Spring Forward

This winter I am so much over
I need to run out in the clover
Time for spring to forward
Maybe I'll just move shoreward
And spend my time as a fearful rover.
