Half a Rose

Here's half a rose
that now belongs to you.
The whole one is very special
because it now belongs to two.

Keep this rose with you
wherever you may go.
My prayers are always with you
and so are God's, you know.

The other half belongs to me,
it makes me think of you.
Think about what you wish for
and I'll pray that they come true.

This rose is very special,
use it wisely when you may.
Don't wish badly upon another
or the rose will wilter away.

Always know how much I care;
and I'm always with you inside.
And no matter what you choose
I'm only one step behind.

Flin Flon

I step out from the city
to my home and native land;
where the Canadian shield soars
with the help of God's great hand.

The many trees before our eyes
grow as far as we can see.
The lakes move so gracefully
and the rocks as still as can be.

The thousands of friendly people
wave hello each day;
And nod their heads goodnight
when they walk away.

The northern sun begins to set
at around 10 o'clock at night.
The peaceful evening only starts
when the wildlife move in sight.

We sit upon the backyard deck,
without a neon light;
Counting every sparkling star
and watching bats in flight.

Staying up late on weekends
to climb the tallest of heights.
Bringing out the sleeping bags
to watch the Northern Lights.

Hearing the loons sing their songs
under the midnight skies.
Feeling the morning air again
when the sun begins to rise.

I can't help but feel so blessed
to be able to see lights dawn;
Right in the middle of Canada
in a city called "the Flon".

Hands

Your hands are gentle but strong,
they keep me safe at night;
And when I feel attacked
they're there to help me fight.

Even when I dream great dreams,
your hands, they still appear.
They hold me close at night
to wipe away the fear.

Other nights, I dream of you
holding my hand in yours;
I look into your eyes
and never felt more sure.

I love the way I feel inside
when I know your hands are there;
when I know you're going to protect me
in a moment I could not bear.

The Wedding

The doors began to open,
and I stepped into the room.
With one foot after the other,
and waiting to hold you soon!

You looked at me and smiled,
as a tear ran down your face.
You were the only thought I had
in a fairly crowded place.

We held eachother's hands
and I gazed into your eyes.
Knowing that you were the one
left no one in surprise.

Now the wedding is over,
but we made the perfect team.
So, I can't wait to meet you
instead of having you as a dream.

I know it's on your heart;
and it's only a matter of time,
before you think you're ready,
and then God will make you mine.

A True Love Story

Not long ago this was a dream;
There was no plan at all.
But the dream became reality
and my heart began to fall.

Not long ago my heart gave up
on something that did not exist.
But you came marching into my life
and my heart could not resist.

You have a way of touching my heart
by a simple hold of my hand.
And the feeling I get when you kiss me
makes it hard to stand.

I can't describe what I feel inside
when we catch eachother's eye;
When you hold me in your arms
and I let out a simple sigh.

There's something so great about you
that fills that hole in my heart.
Something so strong and sticky
that will never let us part.

Each night I have I kneel and pray,
thanking the Lord above;
For sending me an angel like you
a man so perfect to love.

This love will last a life time;
It was matched in the eyes of God.
And because he's so strong and powerful
we know this love's no fraud.

So, even though our hearts may fall
and roads may twist and bend,
I can promise you a love like this
will never truly end .

Insomnia

These days can get so long and lonely;
and I cry myself to sleep.
I try to think of the lovely meadows
where I can finally count my sheep.

But my head is filled with empty thoughts
and the sheep do no exist.
I twist and turn without a wink
because sleep determines resist.

I can hear the clock tick slowly
as every tock runs by.
And now my tears match the seconds
as if they came from the sky.

I roll the covers off my body
and get up off my bed;
walk around, grab a drink,
and massage my tired head.

I lay back down and pray to God
that at least my eyes will close.
I pull the blankets up to my chin
and tuck them under my nose.

I awaken from my slumber
and I look to see the sun
shining in the bright blue sky;
another night is done.

And now I do my daily chores
and study for another test.
I'll talk to God and ask once more
for at least one night of rest.
