True Athlete

People don't play sports because its fun, ask any athlete most of them hate it, but
they couldn't imagine their life without it.

Its part of them, the love hate relationship it’s what they live for. They live for the
practices, the parties, and the cheers.

They live for the long bus rides, all the invitationals, and the countless
pairs of shoes, and of course, coaches’ you hate but yet appreciate.

They live for the way it feels when going into double over time and then wining by
one point, and then knowing those two extra sprints they ran in practice were
worth it.

They live for the way they become a family with the team, they live for the
countless songs they sing in there head while a coach conditions them like
there’s no tomorrow.

They live for the competition; they live for the glory, the memories, and
the satisfaction.

It’s who they are, it's who we are. WE ARE ATHLETES!

Crashing Waves

As the storm rolls in, the thick dark
clouds build up in the sky.

The extravagant pink, orange and yellow
colors appear over the water as the sunsets
across the ocean.

The flashing of lights coming from the
storm clouds light her dimly lit face.

Feelings of freedom and happiness over
whelms me as I lay next to her.

The feeling numbs my body from head to toe.

As we lay on the car hood and talk, her
voice carries me above the clouds.

The wind picks up, and with it carries the
scent of crashing waves.

Our conversation grows quit.

I lay next to her lessoning to her soft
steady breathing, the silence becomes
uncomfortable.

As I began to speak she reaches over and
puts her soft fingers against my trembling
lips.

She sits up and leans towards me, my heart
rate begins to race.

The wind blows her smooth, delicate hair
graciously against my face.

Rain drops cautiously begin to fall, she
moves ever so closer, with every move my
heart pounds harder and my eyes grow weary.

Then it happens, everything around me
stops; the thunder, the lighting, and the
rain, all stop as if frozen in time.

Its lasts only a few seconds, for we had
come back to reality, and with it came the
scent of crashing waves.

River

The river runs free

The water is very clean

It is time to swim

Last Thought

The asphalt against my face
Sirens in the background
My fresh warm blood censuring my eyes
Over whelming feelings of regret and remorse rush through my mind
What am I to do in the last moments of my life?

To lay here and cry or to quietly die
Or to scream for help or to fade in the night
Wish for a new start or to pray for what I had.
What about my mom and my dad?

How are they going to take it without me by there side
I didn't get to say good bye or tell them how much I loved them both.
They should now that I will always be there with them.
I don’t want them to be sad, they should be mad, I made the selfish choice.

Having them by my side would make this better
To have my dad tell me “Its okay son we all make mistakes”
Or my mom to say “I can relate to how you are feeling, and that it will be okay”

But it won’t, because I’m feeling my hopes and my dreams all slipping away
Like a leaf falling off a tree on a windy autumn day.

Cautious Love

Love can be only what you want it to be
I just want it to be a part of me
Love to me is like a growing oak tree
It grows slow but it’s pure
Love can be hard but there’s always a cure
The cure can be hard to find but it’s always there
Don’t be afraid to look, it could be anywhere
Giving up on love is like not living
Don’t give up if you are willing
Love is serious and not a game
Love can never be taken the same
You must have respect for love every time
Love will never stop on a dime
So don’t rush in at anytime
Take love for granted
For what you have maybe all you get
So be smart and hold on to it

An Old Man Weathered and Worn

This old man weathered and worn
Stands by the grave broken and torn.

Tears of sympathy, tears of pain,
Roll down his cheek with fury of blame.

His wife's memories have been trashed and her destiny has been claimed
Her life was taken by a drunk driver who must not be named.

For he got off free with nothing to show
Except for the knowledge that he will know.

He left this old man alone to mourn
He left an old man weathered and worn.

Why?

You never had much for a dad, I understood.

He’d left you and your mom for a girl, which he always had to have

I thought we had something serious, I thought we could last

With you I felt that I had no ties in my past, which was until you left me the
weekend before last

I never will understand why you left me for that type of a guy?

I guess it’s because you found out, you just liked getting high

Whenever you shot him up, you felt that you could fly

Which in other cases you thought you could touch the sky,
And I’m guessing that’s why you probably died!

Jumping from a nine story building isn’t cool, especially when it’s in front of an
elementary school

Its laws of physics baby, why couldn’t you see?

Jumping from that window wasn’t going to help you fly to the Mediterranean Sea!

You should have known that, but I don’t think you cared. You where so high you
probably forgot to be scared while free falling a hundred and eight feet out of mid-
air

Why you wanted little kids to watch your body splat, bets the hell out of me, who in
their right mind would do that?

From what I heard it only took an hour to clean up the mess, but during that time
a lot of kids past out at recess!

Poor little jimmy, he defiantly got the worst, he was swinging on a swing when he
saw you fall
He fell off and broke his jaw!

You were just like your dad you wanted something knew
You chose him over me and you thought you could fly?
You flew just like a rock falling from the sky!

My lesson learned! Don’t pick drugs over anyone, you’ll fall out of the sky and
that’s never fun!

Crow

It all started with the fall of our great towers
We lost our own citizens to a small group of cowards
For those people that died, we honored them with our flowers

We sent troops over to fight in foreign land
To find out who ordered the command, that brought our country so much sorrow
And the fear of what would come tomorrow

Our loved ones have been fighting for months on end
Fighting the enemy who brought us to defend, our nation who fear’s and cries
because of them

Why has it come to this?
Years of conflict and days of pain
Our soldiers are still fighting, but in who’s name?

This conflict has had nothing to show except for our dead
Who lay to rest in eternity’s bed
Forever lost with nothing we can do

We look at our leader and say “It’s all because of you”
Are feeling have brought us to hate our own kind
We as a nation can not see past our own bind

Throughout all this agony and pain,
Our troops still fight from morning to night

They fight for what they know
Will eventually lead them to the sought after crow

The crow of disaster, the crow of pain
The evil man that brought us this shame
