For a Soldier

When you wake up in the morning and stay up the nights
Always remember that we are here till the end
When you fix up you weapons and go for war
Just lift up your head high and know you are strong for this.

When you are hurting inside and feels like you’ve done wrong
Always remember you did what was supposed to be done
When you remember of the memories we shared
Always know there are more to be shared in the future.

When you look at the pictures on your phone
Just know that your friends and family love you
When you call and don’t want the conversation to end
Just know that we are not apart from the heart.

When you are on your back and eager to arrive
Always remember we can’t wait to hold you in our arms
And when you have the nightmares at night
Always remember we are here to embrace and talk to you.

Our Hero, Brother, Friend, Husband, Dad,Camolover.

My Best Friend

When I think of friends I have ever had
Your name comes first in my head
And smiles all over my face
Flashing back all the good memories we’ve had.

You’ve made me appreciate lots of things in life
You’ve made learn new things
You’ve made me see love in a different way
You make me smile each and every day.

Though you tease me at times
You are still the best.
Though I annoy you at times
You are still there to correct me.

Am writing this poem for you
Because you inspired me to write
I know you are far away from me to say this in person
But hope you get to read this.

Always know I will appreciate you as my best friend.

Is Our Generation Dying

My heart is bleeding out
Wondering what our generation is becoming of
They and we, say we are the next leaders
But who’s going to lead the country
Drunkards? Corrupt persons?
Our generation is dying
While our leaders are lying
Who’s going to save this generation?
Students are taking shortcuts to excel,
Youths consuming themselves in drugs and alcohol,
While others engaging themselves in unprotected sex.
Are our parents too busy to see this?
Relatives are turning against their children
And rape is the day to day news.
Is someone out there fighting for this generation?
Innocent kids are being neglected and introduced to prostitution
While youths are recruited to join terrorism
Is anyone listening to this generation?
We can only pray to God that someone comes to rescue us.

Weird Encounter

WEIRD ENCOUNTER

I see him after months & months of no communication
But I wonder which words to tell him
Hey?
How are you doing?
How have you been?
It’s been long since we spoke?
And I end up saying nice seeing you again,
As I stretch my arm to give him a handshake.

We sit gazing at each for a while not knowing what to say
Suddenly, he asks what drink will you have?
“A glass of cold passion juice, I respond.”
In my mind, I have mixed reaction
I want to cry, I need answers, and I need him to tell me what happened
But wonder at the same time how will I start the conversation.
Finally, he breaks the silence and asks how I have been
For the period we have been apart.

For the sake of the good old times
He pulls me in his arms and we start dancing
Dancing to the classical music we love listening too
He turns me around stares at me again
Then, I lean on his shoulder
He whispers, word by word
“I missed dancing with you, holding you in my arms.”
As the music comes to halt, he releases my hand and we head to sit.

Being awkward as it may seem
Responding one word to his questions
Without follow up questions or statements
My eyes are full of tears, nearly breaking down
But I hold on and hide my emotions
Time passes by and we bid each other goodbye
Hoping the next meeting won’t be awkward.
“Am happy seeing you again, he says that as he kisses my cheek and exits”
