Meghan Mclaren Poem
The pigeon-shaded sidewalk glistened wet
After swimming all night under rain
That poured from charcoal-coloured clouds and met
With feathers ruffling in disdain.
It was still dark as thunder in the sky,
As if the sun decided to sleep in -
Preferring to be silent in his rise,
To let those giants in gray play violin.
Electric bolts danced briefly in the distance.
The warning bell that followed rumbled low,
Complaining of his dreary coexistence
Between that fire and the rain that fell below.
Until at last the sun came out to play,
Instilling hope that maybe, this time, she would stay.
