With Pen In Hand

With pen in hand
How little the world seem to me
How powerful I do feel
For there’s nothing I can’t handle
Everything I tackle
Criminals I put behind bars
Minds I sharpen
With pen in hand
I am a hero

With pen in hand
I am a legend
For my words are filled with power
For my thoughts heals the nation
For I give hope to those hopeless
For I care for the elderly
And restore respect to the youths.

With pen in hand
HIV/AIDS is history
For I encourage ABCD precaution
For I preach about abstinence and faithfulness
With pen in hand
I am your love doctor
For I mend broken hearts
For my words soothes lover’s hearts

With pen in hand
I need neither gun nor knife
For there’s no battle I can’t win
With pen in hand
I will conquer the world.

Poem For Mama

I wanted to write a song for my mother
Then I thought Boyz 2 Men’s "Song for mama”
	So discouraged I got
As confused as I was
I then decided to write a letter for my mother
Just when I wrote ‘Dear Mother’
Tu Pac's Dear Mama came into mind
There my Lord, wasted paper and ink!!!!

I then asked my Zulu friend help write a Zulu song
We thought of going the line Mama Wami
Again Deborah Frasers’ Mama Wami came in mind
Not only once, but she did it again as
Britney Spears by singing Mzali Wami
I never got angry at her, but disappointed in myself.

I wanted to write a song that expresses the joy
That my mom goes through when she sees me
My Zulu friend had something like ‘u mama u ya jabula’ in mind
Bother not say it loud, I said
For Bra Hugh wrote the same words
Tho my friend tried, but was not enough

I decided to apologize to mama
For I couldn’t write her nothing
I took a pen and paper and wrote
	'Mama I am sorry'
With just four words,
Brenda Fassies’ Mama I am sorry came in mind
For I can’t write what our eminent legend wrote
Not only did she apologize to mama
She also said it was too late for mama
Ohh Sis Mabbrr, sure your legacy lives on

Still as I am struggling to find words for my mom
I got so fired up inside
As boiling as I was
I somehow managed to calm myself down
Just the way Jesus calmed the sea

As creative as I wanted to be
There was no much for me
For much words has been used
	Only the good ones rather
I then decided to write a Poem for Mama
Ssshhh listen to this.....

Let the Past Be

‘Let the past be’ he said
Why disturb peace
Why not let sleeping dogs lie
Why awaken the dead
Why dig old skeletons
For you can’t stand the omen.

Why not cherish tomorrow,
Why not anticipate for the future
For there’s much to look for
To correct the past mistakes
To create new life
To wave path for the next generation.

What’s done is done
You can’t spill over split milk
And you can’t change the past mistakes
But can forbid the repetition thereof
And let bygones be bygones.

Yesterday is gone
And it remain in the past
For all that happened
Simply let it go
And concentrate ‘rather’
On the future
For the past is history.

On This Day

All of my thoughts and emotions
All of my attention and affections
Everything from adolescent to maturity
The search for special one was launched
I became the interviewer
And all the elegant became my interviewees
Hoping for something special

So, on this day
I just want to give you me
I want to give you all the attention in the world
I know you’ve seen the color of my love
Embrace yourself love
Coz on this day
This you’ve never seen
And this you’ve got to see
The whole world will seem like you and I
And all will happen on this day

So on this day
I just want to appreciate you
And let you know that
No present is more than a present
Of having you present in my life
No rose can arouse me more
No other brown chocolate can change me
From being there for you with you

On this day
As for promises made can be broken
As for everything said can change
As for our love is eternity
As for words written will remain
And for our love so special

Yet this day may pass
But as for our love will remain
Memories shared will remain

So on this day
I just want to say
You’re what have been missing in my life
Coz, life only makes sense when you know
There is someone worth living for
And for me, you’re the one

So, on this day
I will give you what you can never
Find anywhere that is me.
On this day I want you to know that
I love you more

If Words Could Ever Explain

All from the beginning
Almost a year of pains
All the early sickness
Everything from sleepless night
To kicks in the stomach
From nights of torture
To nappy changing
All the cuddling
The joy of fist words to first steps
Could words ever explain
My gratitude.

All you gave me
Unconditional love you gave
Your undying love to date
Through thick and thin by my side
All the support and courage you gave
But words could never explain
What you really mean

House could never be a home without you
Family could never be complete without you
You’re a role model
You’re heroine
You’re everything

In my eyes nothing compares to you
In my eyes your love and care is endless
Because you’re the best
Keep on mother As the saying goes
'Mmangwana o swara thipa ka bogaleng'
‘Mother grasps a knife by the blade.’

Just Once

What kind a drug are you
So seductive and highly addictive
Just one stroke, one is addicted
Like an addict I can’t do without you
All you do is dement me
All I do is dream and crave for you
Yet can’t seem to refrain from you
You turned nights into white nights
Nothing to ponder ‘bout
Only you
Just once

Just Walk Away

Why clinch to wasted time
Life goes on you know
You said yourself that
When love end, life continues
But can’t say same for you
Still on road to nowhere

Why becomes a puppet
While you can have puppy yourself
Why always groaning and moaning
Isn’t it enough
You’re better than that

Isn’t it time to emigrate?
Isn’t it time to search for greener pastures?
You’ve been hurt you know
You’ve been played you know
You’re not jinxed
And believe so not

Are you slave for love
For how long
Even a blind can see when played
Even a cripple can walk away when hurt

What are you?
Have you heart of stone
But why broken into pieces
Isn’t it enough
Just walk away

But Your Eyes

Is there need to delineate
Coz it’s out of this world
Everything is just sizzling
Nothing but fire works
Symbol of that God took his time
Truly, no words define your beauty
The word is just scarre

An offence it would be
To pertain platinum to aluminium
Coz you’re incomparable
Since nothing defines your beauty
And nothing comes close
Everything about you dazzles
But your eyes
The most appealing of eyes

You’re attrahent
And can’t be held liable
If I am allured
But in your eyes
It’s where I get lost
Coz I love touring in your eyes
Where I see all the wonders
And beauties within you
But your eyes
These eyes that tells million words
Without the movement of lips
These eyes that gets all the attention and affection.

All you do is stare
And those who look back
Get dazzled
But could never wonder
What these eyes represent is pure elegancy
Coz that’s what you are
You’re precious
You’re gorgeous
Most of all, you’re elegant
With the most appealing of eyes

What Are You

What are you to impinge on our doors,
We quiver in awe and relinquish our live?
What are you that you detract,
Our beloved before our eyes?
What are you that you drag our beloved,
So slowly and painfully?
What are you that you torment our beloved,
While we look helpless and powerless?
Why are we to live in fear of your name?
There have been names, but
No name is more fearful than yours.
Are we fighting a losing battle against you?
Or is this the beginning of our ending lives?
Aids, just what are you?

The Search

To search your whole life
For what in particular
But did I search
My whole life I have searched
For I wanted so much
For all I did was search

I searched for a soul mate
I searched for a comforter
I searched for companionship
I needed compassion
Did I succeed

To date I am still searching
Tho have realized
To search
To want
To need
To love
To no avail

For much emotions wasted
After all to realize
All I searched for was no one
Coz the only person I found
Was the one to give me all
To love and care for me
To cherish and be there for me

Thank God at last
For no one can care for me
More than me.
